+1 for Scott. 2008 R2 is still supported, so it needs to be supported, end of story. While we are in a rush to move out of 2008 R2, as you can imagine most of our critical solutions are still on old OS. January 2020, 2008 R2 no longer supported, then the stance can change, but until that it absolutely needs to be supported.

Agree, right now my plan is to migrate everything over to a third party and then use an API to collect the info and send back to OpsManager for further analysis/alerts/notifications...

See this URL (I have NOT tested and I'm not affiliated to either websites)

Err, most likely the issue is that you have multiple management groups monitoring the same servers/services. You should unify the MGs into 1, and use groups for security then look at Custom MPs for your applications that will be doing suppression/correlations. Lots of work but benefit in the long run...

I think examples would be good here, but I don't use linux MPs...

Agree the notification workflow is more complex than what is usually thought of (I know, I was stumped as well in the beginning), but there is a reason to is and it allows OpsManager to be more flexible. Perhaps more time should be spent on understanding that workflow. If there is a problem with the workflow, then it should be put in the support forums. If a better workflow is desired, best provide with said workflow, but post as is doesn't bring much to the table, IMHO.

I use SquaredUp for a full HTML5 view of OpsManager. One word: Amazing!!! Since it is pure HTML5, it is compatible/usable with mobile device browsers. It also adds other interesting capabilities (see their website for more info).

I only cringe a little on the pricetag though (there is a free version available)

PS: I'm not affiliated to them

You can workaround this by disabling Auto-Increment then setting the MP version to the desired version then building an MP. It will then build with the desired version. Then re-enable Auto-Increment it will start from the new number onwards.

If you can't have an automated health state then use a Rule generating alert. There's absolutely NO benefits to have a manual reset monitor. Those "Monitors" should be depreciated in SCOM and converted automatically.

Actually, IMHO they should completely rewrite the MP to not use Manual Reset monitors.

under review  ·  SCOM PMs responded

Thanks for your suggestion and up-votes. This request is under review and we will keep this thread updated on developments about the integration.

Meanwhile, I have a question for everyone that requested this feature. Hypothetically speaking, “If” this feature will be available in SCOM console ONLY if you have the OMS addon, would you be willing to/able to use this feature? Do any of you have a limitation of not being able to use OMS along with your SCOM environment?
