  1. Update DB Virtual Log File workflow to use sys.dm_db_log_info instead of DBCC LOGINFO

    Hello,

When the Version Agnostic management pack attempts to collect VLF counts, it uses DBCC LOGINFO("dbname") to achieve this. Would it be possible to update this workflow to use sys.dmdblog_info instead? This replaces DBCC LOGINFO as described in the below documentation:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/system-dynamic-management-views/sys-dm-db-log-info-transact-sql?view=sql-server-ver15#remarks

  2. SCOM SQL 2017+ DB Log Free Space in Megabyte

In the SQL 2017+ Management Pack is a Monitor to monitor the free DB log space in percent. We would like to monitor the free DB log space additionally in MB. We need this because we have very much DBs, and they are from very small to very big. Its to much effort to set for every DB another percent treshold. And if we set a threshold 10%, this is good for small DBs, but if we have a big DB, there is no problem when free space is for example 10% but still 100GB. So we wanna set a…

is there a way to install a Scom agent on Linux Sles 11?
there is a problem with Openssl, max 0.9.8 under Sles 11 but the agent requests Openssl 1.0 minimum
is there another compatible agent (older?)?
    thank you

  4. False "Zone Query Overload" alerts from DNS Management Pack 10.1.0.0

The data source that the "Windows DNS Server 2016 and 1709+ Detect Zone Query Overload" monitor and "Windows DNS Server 2016 and 1709+ Number Of Queries Performance Collection Rule" has an issue. If the server is under heavy CPU load at the time the data source runs, it fails and records a value of "0". This causes false alerts, as the "Zone Query Overload" is a "Delta" type monitor, so it sees a huge increase in queries when the next attempt succeeds.

  5. Remove .NET framework v3.5 dependency in SCOM 2019 SDKs

The latest SCOM 2019 SDKs and referenced MPs are using .NET framework v3.5 while seal and importing management packs via sdk/c#. Also it asked to install .NET framework 3.5 features. Because .NET Framework 3.5 is not included by default in Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016/2019.

    Sample Code: https://systemscenter.ru/scom2012sdk.en/

  6. need diagnostic and recovery tasks for log monitoring

seems that when i setup a log monitor there is not an diagnostic and recovery tab. so i am unable to add any of these tasks with a log monitor. other monitors have a diagnostic and recovery tab so automation is able to be added with those monitors. however for log monitoring, we have to take manual reaction to these alerts since the diagnostic and recovery tab does not exist. we need to have that option for log monitors.

  7. Fix Issue with Rollup for Exchange Health Set MailboxSpace

With multiple disks on an Exchange server for DAG all the database health for low log space all rollup to the server. So if a another disks breaches the threshold an alert is not sent as the existing one is still there and has already sent an alert.

  8. SQL Server British English RunAs (login) accounts don't work properly

I have reported a problem to MS support that they have been able to successfully repro but it has been suggested that I post it on here as well.
On SCOM 2012R2 and SQL2017, if the RunAs account is British English then failing database backups don't report. If you change it to English and restart the SQL Server it all works. If you change it back and restart it doesn't.

  9. Version Agnostic MP (7.0.15.0) Clustered Instance Discovery Issues

The version agnostic management pack (v7.0.15.0) appears to have issues discovering clustered SQL Server instances. I deployed it alongside a fresh SCOM 2019 build without any of the old SQL Server management packs imported, and only some instances/databases are being discovered – it’s a very strange mix of results. We have a SQL 2014 instance that gets discovered fully (including databases), a SQL 2016 instance which is discovered with its databases but are not monitored, and SQL 2016/2017 instances that aren’t discovered at all.

I then imported the SQL 2016 management pack (v7.0.15.0) and it discovered all the clustered instances/databases…

  10. I would love the ability to monitor Log analytics entries with Scom... just like windows event logs is done today..

Today this can be done with a powershell script or creating a rule with azure monitor (the later sucks as no data from the actual row can be passed on).
A simple wizard would be great... just as the windows event log monitors/rules

  13. Regularly update the managementpack page versions and dates

Regularly update the managementpack page versions and dates

The site https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16174.microsoft-management-packs.aspx were you can find all managementpacks is showing old dates and versions.
For example currently the pack for DHCP 2016 and higher is showing version 1.0.11.0 while there is already a newever version. You now only see this when you click into that pack so it's not easy to see which new or updated packs are released recently.
And while you work on it make also the date column sortable so i can overview the newest packs on top.

Release and maintain a 2019 version of the "System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Authoring Resource Kit".

This tool is an absolute gem in training new people to SCOM, which also gives them a better understanding on how everything is pieced together and useful for design work...

  15. Revamp the SCOM Installer

There are a lot of posts about the SCOM installation here, but this one is a bit different, although a full revamp of the installer is really in order.

First and foremost, I'd like to see the requirement of a user account with a user profile for installation removed. One could still use a SCOM admin account with DB rights to install, I would think, if the installer wrote the install logs to a different location. Right now, it needs a valid user profile, which makes it impossible to install using tools like SCCM.

I'd like to see the wrapper…

  16. Design Scom to support Kusto language instead of SQL Query

Currently we are able to collect monitoring data, Audit through ACS or dashboard deployment, either by Scom Console or VSAE or other partner tools. Depending on the dashboard and customer skill, it's a struggle to create these tasks and many give up and move for a easier competitor monitoring tool.
With Kusto Language used by Azure Monitor, many customers had a good feedback because it's easier to create dasboards and query data. However some ones are restrict to use Cloud Solution due to company policy and prefer using on-premises solutions.
Another barrier for using SQL query is a dependence from…

  17. Allow changing SSRS permissions and do not ignore them

If a user is member of the SCOM Security Role "Operations Manager Report Operators" or any other "Report Operator"-Group it is not possible to browse the Reports-Website (https://reportserver.domain.local/Reports).
It is only possible to directly call the reports. (https://reportserver.domain.local/Reports/Audit%20Reports/AccessViolation-AccountLocked)

The error message is the genereic error: "Could not load folder contents You are not allowed to view this folder. Contact your administrator to obtain the necessary permissions."
The SSRS-logs also do not provide any other more detailed explanation.

I verified that the group-ID of the security role has "Browser"-Rights on the Root-SSRS folder. …

  18. Azure HDI Cluster monitoring

    Hi Team,

We have been asked to enable monitoring for HDI Cluster through SCOM and when we checked in existing Management Pack details, we found that HDI Cluster only support SCOM 2012 or SCOM 2012 SP1 version. Right now we are using SCOM 2016 (UR7) for all kind of production monitoring.

Now we have been asked to build a new Management Group for SCOM 2012 Sp1 to be able to enable monitoring for HDI Cluster. i would like to know if Product Group Team is working on releasing HDI Cluster monitoring Management Pack for SCOM 2016 or not and\or if…

  19. implement ssh server on scom and support python scripts

Due to the need for hybrid environments with opensource systems and the scom's apliances to stay competitive with, market chains should enable native support for secure ssh communication but without fully depending on the requested agent, thereby opening up numerous possibilities for direct execution of Hi, I have a ssh command. I have a ssh command. I have a ssh command that interprets bash commands via ssh but it does not have native support. It is mandatory to install an ssh service on the windows server, there is also a need to run python scripts, such as zabbix and splunk…
