  2. Make the SCOM Console Windows Stop Disappearing

Working in the SCOM console, when closing a window the console will occasionally disappear. You have to go to the task bar to find it and re-select the window.

To reproduce this; First make sure the SCOM Console is full screen. Then click on an alert created by a rule. In the alert details, open up the rule by clicking on it.

    Then click Configuration, and View.

    Then close both windows.

    The SCOM Console will disappear.

  3. UNIX/Linux Management Pack Updates via SCOM 2012 R2

We generally check the catalog regularly for updated Management Packs in SCOM 2012 R2. The catalog is currently showing what appear to be incorrect versions of the MPs for the customers still on 2012 R2:

It might be a good idea to correct this, since these versions will break UNIX/Linux monitoring in SCOM 2012 R2, at the very least agent deployment will be broken.

  4. Agentless objects representing virtual cluster servers should ideally be situated under the node that currently hosts them

Agentless objects under “Administration\Device Management\Agentless Managed” representing virtual cluster servers should ideally be situated under the node that currently hosts them.

As it stands, the objects reside under the cluster node that they were first discovered on. This is highly confusing for the user.

  5. SCOM 2019: creating Web Console Widgets - I would like to specify groups of servers via a .csv text file but I cannot find an import functio

SCOM 2019: When creating Web Console Widgets - I would like to specify a group of servers via a .csv text file but I cannot find an import function - I seem to only be able to search for 1 server at a time. It seems an enterprise product would have a text file import button. Tks

  6. SCOM CI-connector keeps setting Logical Disks to Pending Delete

I can only assume the SCOM team is responsible for the SCOM CI-connector as well.

We're seeing a lot of disks being marked as "pending delete" from SCOM, and having them being set to Active again with the SCCM connector. In this case, the SCCM connector is correct. This poses problems since we use the disk size reported from SCCM to produce sizing reports and forecasts.

  7. Web Console - make Details pane resizable in Safari and Chrome on macOS

I'm using a Mac and open the web console of SCOM 1807 in Chrome or Safari. Clicking on a result in Results pane, I get only a couple of lines in the Details pane. Although I can drag and drop the grey line between the Results and Details pane, it constantly reverts to it's former position.

  8. Make Self Tuning Thresholds persistent after agent restart

SCOM has had "Self Tuning Thresholds" since the beginning. Unfortunately, the alert thresholds that are calculated after the initial learning period are stored in memory and do not persist after a restart of the agent. This causes a gap in monitoring for several days every time the agent is restarted or the host is rebooted. The dynamic alert thresholds should be saved to the cache so that there is no monitoring gap. If the dynamic thresholds need to be reset and the learning period restarted, that should only be initiated manually from the console or via powershell, when the administrators…

  10. Comparison of should and is the network discovery

Network devices that are to be explicitly determined are sometimes discarded. They do not appear in pending management. It is also possible to double-monitor the same network device (SNMP only and ICMP only). Here would be a comparison between SOLL and IST very helpful.

  12. Have an OM commandlet to delete a SCOM agent

Have a OM shell commandlet that deletes a SCOM agent (like right-click Delete in Management, Agent Managed Computers), something like this: Get-SCOMAgent –DNSHostName "server01.contoso.com" | Remove-SCOMAgent

  13. Microsoft Teams monitoring

    Dear developers,

would love to see you making adjustments to O365 management pack with the ability to monitor the status of Microsoft Teams. Currently o365 management pack is really not transparent and its based on ticket system. It would be great to have something like it is for SfB on premise where you can use synthetic transactions. I would love to see synthetic tests checking if PSTN and Peer-to-Peer calls are working from/to Teams.

  14. Agent Reads Prior Events After Exiting Maintenance Mode

I've run into an issue where after coming out of maintenance an agent goes back and reads events from prior to the maintenance mode end time. This generates alerts from events that occurred while the machine was in maintenance. It appears this has been an issue since at least 2009, but still exists in the SCOM 2016 agent:

  15. Enable delivery address field for commands

Enable delivery address field for commands, so it will be possible to send alerts to subscribers through Powershell scripts

    command : "myScript.ps1" '$Data/Recipients/To/Address/Address$' ...

  16. SQL Integration MP Discovers Duplicate Integration Services

The 2014 and 2016 SQL Integration packs have "Discover SQL Server 2014 DB Installation Source (seed)" discoveries that are targeted toward the "Windows Server" class. In environments where SSIS may be installed on SQL Clusters (and SCOM has the clustering MPs imported), this can lead to duplicate instances of the Integration services being discovered. Clustered resource "servers" are also populated into the "Windows Server" class. I creates groups populated with "Windows Server" objects with the "Is Virtual Node" property set to "True", and override the discoveries using these groups. Pan Optional MP could be included that would be imported if…

  17. Change the label for CustomFields 1-10 to something more read able, eq Asset Id

On Alerts it would be nice to have the possibility to change the label of the columns name to something more read able, eq 'Custom Field 1' to 'Asset Id'

  18. Azure MP and Log Analytics MP

These two management packs break each other when deployed together. BOTH management packs require workarounds to fix an issue with Microsoft.IdentityModel.Clients.ActiveDirectory, and they are each dependent upon 2 different versions of that assembly, so it is impossible to configure both at the same time without continuously swapping out these .dlls. Additionally, both management packs come up with many missing assemblies, which have to be copied from other locations to get them to work at all. Where is the quality control?

  19. Linux Agent 1.6.3 (SCOM 1801) should not update sudoers and create users

If you deploy the Linux omsagent using the "Discovery Wizard", the following modification on the system are done:
    - three (!) users are added (omi, nxautomation and omsagent)
    - some extensive sudoers permissions are given to them via /etc/sudoers.d/omsagent

Many of our clients do not allow scripts to be run as root, where the executed has write permissions on the script. Exactly this is the case for most of the scripts.

    REQUESTS:
    1. More documentation why these modifications are required
    2. Can the fluenD, omsagent work without them
    3. creating users must be optional. Many centrally maintain users and sudoers…

  20. Allow wildcards to exclude some Databases/instance and not all

To exclude an instance or database from discovery, you have to either specify the full name or use * to exclude everything. It would be much more use to be able to exclude '*_clone' or '*test*'.
