  1. Removing Sliverlight dependency from SCOM 2016 web console

May we expect to remove the Silverlight dependency from SCOM 2016 in near future through a Update Rollup patch?

  2. Bring in Rule/Monitor to Alert on Windows Activation Status

Currently SCOM does not have the ability to monitor Windows Servers Activation Status in a Windows environment. There is no KMS MP either to supplement this Monitor. Bring this functionality back so SCOM can be used in place of a 3rd party tool.

  4. When an SCOM Agent's Operations System undergoes In-place upgrade, Post upgrade duplicate objects are seen in SCOM related to the Agent

When an SCOM Agent's Operations System undergoes In-place upgrade, Post upgrade duplicate objects are seen in SCOM related to the Agent

In this example Duplicate Disks, Network adapters can been seen. Kevin Holman has blogged about this topic as well - https://kevinholman.com/2019/07/01/do-you-have-duplicate-logical-disks-in-scom/#:~:text=It%20isn't%20terribly%20harmful,in%20SCOM%20as%20a%20whole.

It would be great to have a design change to handle this internally within SCOM rather than Administrators deleting and re-approving the same in the SCOM console.

Lot of manual validation needs to be done as follows:

    1. Once the Agent is deleted, We have to wait to a day for the Agent to be groomed automatically to…

  7. SCOM Monitoring Failure with PowerBI Report Server / SSRS Updates

    Hello,

We are using SCOM 2019 to monitor our SSRS and Power BI Report Server deployments using the SQL 2017+ Reporting Services management pack (v7.0.15.0).

This management pack is able to successfully monitor SSRS 2017 and Power BI Report Server deployments up to May 2019, however when upgrading or deploying to Power BI Report Server September 2019, the "Report manager accessible - PBIRS" monitor in SCOM becomes critical and the following error appears in the RSPortal log file under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\PBIRS\LogFiles:

    2019-12-05 10:41:19.4770|ERROR|37|DOMAIN\SCOMRunAsAccount ::1: HEAD - 0:00:00.0004824
Exception: System.Net.ProtocolViolationException: Bytes to be written to the stream…

  10. add documentation to the managementpacks

On the download page for microsoft official managementpacks some packs have documentation to download. Some have them incorperated in the msi, some have documentation on the download page, some have no documentation, like update services 2016.
It would be nice if it was all the same and if i always can find documentation

  12. Invalid ‘Data Access Service SPN Not Registered’ entries in the ‘Operations Manager’ event log

As per Kevin Holman’s article entitled ‘OpsMgr 2012: What should the SPN’s look like?’ (i.e. https://kevinholman.com/2011/08/08/opsmgr-2012-what-should-the-spns-look-like/), please correct the following erroneous event log entries that are logged when the SDK service is restarted (and configured with an AD account):

    Event Log: Operations Manager
    Event ID: 26371
    Event Source: OpsMgr SDK Service
    Event Level: Warning
    Event Description:

The System Center Data Access service failed to register an SPN. A domain admin needs to add MSOMSdkSvc/MS1 and MSOMSdkSvc/MS1.contoso.com to the servicePrincipalName of CN=MS1,CN=Computers,DC=contoso,DC=com

The events are still being logged, even in SCOM 2019.

    Thank you,

  13. SCOM2019 HTML Notifications To Support Escaped Characters

SCOM2019 HTML Email Notifications is great feature.

BUT there is an issue if html escaped characters appear in Alert Description (for example) - alert email notification will be truncated and this is frustrating.

Some kind of computation like $AlertDescriptionHTML = [System.Net.WebUtility]::HtmlEncode($AlertDescription) must be supported in the notification workflows!!

  16. Management Pack to monitor ADFS 2019 MP

HI, Brian Wren had mentioned that Microsoft would always have a Management Pack for every Microsoft product. Currently Microsoft does NOT have an MP to monitor ADFS

  17. catalog

Someone needs to properly start managing the SCOM catalog behind 'import management packs'.
    Currently it's quite a mess/chaos:
    - It contains MPs for obsolete products,
    - The descriptions of many management packs make not completely clear which MP you should actually choose, sometimes there are several versions, etc
    - Many Microsoft products are missing
    - Some management packs are available on the internet but not in via the catalog
    - There are sample entries in the catalog (in a production catalog environment?!)
    - Some server roles seem to have multiple management packs or legacy dependencies because MPs are stacked and…

  18. AudioCodes need to be support for SCOM 2016

We need to have the AudioCodes devices monitoring more metrics beside simple 'ICMP Ping' and 'SNMP Ping' function. The current certification property of the AudioCodes devices discovered by SCOM not Certified but Generic. In this way, SCOM can't capture any SNMP traps sent from AudioCodes.

  19. DFS Namespaces MP 10.0.0.0 Bug

There appears to be a bug in the "DFS Namespaces Role Service Discovery (Windows Server 2016 and 1709+)" discovery within this MP. On every server it runs on in my environment I get error 4511 from source "HealthService" in the agent log:

"Initialization of a module of type "RegistrySyncProbe" (CLSID "{472364F2-A1F0-41C0-9A8F-E00C92C2AB31}") failed with error code The parameter is incorrect. causing the rule "Microsoft.Windows.FileServer.DFSN.10.0.RoleServiceDiscovery" running for instance "SOMESERVER.mydomain.com" with id:"{982B451D-958B-EC97-1FCE-E04CA6402B58}" in management group "MyCompany"."

I'm not the only one seeing this, there is a thread created in January about this:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fbc0ce74-ac57-4517-8704-ed6550e19aad/event-4511-healthservice-initialization-of-a-module-of-type-quotregistrysyncprobequot?forum=systemcenter

I'll be disabling this discovery in my environment until this…

  20. LVM

There is no monitoring above the physical volume for linux. I do realize that LVM is software management above the physcial volume and is centric to Linux thus not a standard health across both OS (Linux and Windows) but this topic came up as LVM is a standard for linux that was question why SCOM doesn't have a MP for it, but other Linux Monitoring Platforms does (e.g. Zabbix)

This will help to provide such MP in the Linux stack to show Microsoft is keeping thier promise that Microsoft loves linux.
