  1. Add forecasting to reports

We are migrating our environment off prem to a hosted environment and will lose the ability to access VM data. This will make SCOM our most critical monitoring platform. I'm sure many other companies are in the same position.

It would be great to have the option within performance reporting such as disk/memory to forecast usage as it will be our only source of data for capacity management. I can also see benefits for incident prevention as well.

  2. Incorporate sudo lines for unix/linux agents in the documentation and don't change with every version

Every new unix/linux scom agent requires changes in all sudo config files. Why? Just keep you'r installers to run with the same name.
Also it's totally unclear which sudo lines you should use. It would be awsome if you download the managementpack that all documentation will be included with track changes off and all the info you need for the use of it.

  3. Kerberos or something else authentication for AIX scx-agents

Kerberos authentication for Linux was a step forward. But this option is not available for AIX agents. So AIX monitoring is left with basic auth which isn't very good, to say the least.

You need to provide some kind of modern athentication for all platforms supported.

  7. Suppress Network Alert Storms/ Multiple Server Down Alerts /Notifications when a core network switch/router fails

Currently if one switches goes down, we'll get 100's of notifications, which we don't want. This causes a nightmare for our Service Desk Teams to triage and close which takes hours on our ticketing system. We'd like Alert/notifications emailed that the switch is down, but we don't want a server down notification emailed for each of the servers attached to the switch. And following the same logic, we don't want notifications emailed that multiple switches & servers are down if the core switch goes down itself.

So implement some logic or ability for customers to suppress alert storms when a…

  8. Bug in Microsoft System Center Management Pack for AD CS 2016 Management Pack

There is a bug in this Management Pack which causes it to fail when TLS 1.2 is enforced. The error is:

Topology10.0Discovery.vbs : Unable to connect to the database with the specified configuration string. Please make sure that your connection string is valid and that your credentials are authorized to access the database. Cause: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (SECCreateCredentials()).]SSL Security error.

The bug in the discovery is in Topology10.0Discovery.vbs in this line of code:

    GetOpsMgrDBConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=" & sDBServerName & ";Initial Catalog=" & sDBName & ";Integrated Security=SSPI;"

Provider=SQLOLEDB fails when TLS 1.2 is enforced. Per this article, it should be updated:

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/kevinjustin/2017/11/08/sql-native-client-for-tls1-2/

  9. User-made custom Rules/Monitors Exports

Provide an options to view all "user-made" custom rules/monitors and the ability to export it out to CSV. That would be really helpful.

  11. Prevent objects already in manual maintenance mode, entering automatic maintenance mode

If you, for instance, put several Windows Computers in maintenance via the scheduler and one of them was already put in maintenance manually, that one will get out of maintenance when the scheduler ends.
Same deal for hosted objects that were put in maintenance manually.

This feature is planned for 2019 UR2. The furthest end time on the object will be honored with 2019 UR2.

  12. Fix memory leaks in monitoringhost.exe

Shortly after a reboot, I noticed that one of the 8 instances of monitoringhost.exe running on my SCOM server is taking up 3.8GB of RAM (and counting).

    a) That's crazy
    b) 4 more instances are using 116, 199, 321 and 482 MB respectively.
    c) See (a).

This is a tiny lab environment monitoring 15 Windows VMs, and 26 Linux VMs (and most of the Linux ones aren't even running).

By the time I've finished typing in the above, the process that was taking up 3.8GB is now at 4.4.

  13. Redevelop the web console.

The Web console of Scom should be redeveloped.
There are to manny bugs and "features"
A list of them (not complete)
You can not create a scope with filtered dashboards (unfiltered dashboards need to be available)
Collumns in views are garbled up when using search function
Lot of blank windows spaces you can not avoid
    Sub windows are not resizable
Some text in sub windows can not be desplayed
You can not set different settings for web en full console
Documentation of the Html5 dashboards is incomplete
    ...

  15. Web console customization

It would be great to customize the console like "personalize view" in the "fat" client.
And it would be good if columns would not auto-size - or at least just optional.

    Thank you,
    Patrick

  16. Enable SCOM to monitor network devices(Access Points) using hostname as well.

During discovery using hostname , SCOM works. But since the network device is using DHCP ( in most cases ,the APs) , it will keep changing if it is been rebooted. Once the AP got new IPs, SCOM will no longer monitor it as SCOM is monitoring it via IP .Even if the discovery is made recurring , SCOM will create a new record with different IP but same hostname. Thus the AP is "greyed" out. The only way now is to delete the existing record and manually rediscover.

  17. HP-UX Agent Support in SCOM 2019

I was reviewing the supported UNIX/Linux OSs at the following location:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/scom/plan-supported-crossplat-os?view=sc-om-2019 and took note that support for HP-UX has been removed. This is creating a problem for my current customer since they use HP-UX and will continue to use HP-UX. According to my customer HP-UX is still supported through 2025, so removing monitoring support in SCOM 2019 is going to be a problem. While I understand there may be workarounds for this issue, I am also concerned about maintaining the customer's environment in a supported configuration.

  18. allow heartbeat monitor's heartbeat intervals and # of missed heartbeat to be overrideable parameters on the monitor.

Heartbeat frequency and number of allowed missed heartbeats should be overridable parameters on the monitor so they can be managed using the override screen as well. This adds the benefit of knowing when they have been changed. Currently only the frequency can be changed, and that is per agent or by bulk via powershell and even that is not done through a normal override as other SCOM monitors. Number of allowed missed heartbeats is only a global change at the moment so you cannot change it at all. I would like the ability to do both.

  19. DHCP Scope % Available Monitor Broken For Tiny Scopes

Today I found in our weekly health check we have two DHCP servers that SCOM is collecting thousands of DHCP events from. The reason for the event spam is that they have a DHCP scope that has run out of addresses. These scopes are small, one is four addresses and one is five. The "DHCP Server 2016 and 1709+ IPV4 Individual Scope Addresses Available Percentage Monitor" monitor is enabled on these scopes with default thresholds, but remains in a healthy state. I have verified that the "DHCP.10.0.IndividualScopesProbe.ps1" runs successfully on the server, and returns a percentage free of "0" for…

  20. Start-SCOMAgentMaintenanceMode should have -Force parameter

Agent -initiated maintenance mode https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/scom/manage-maintenance-mode-overview?view=sc-om-2019#enable-from-target-system-1 is great, however as of now it still forces an answer in the console prompt - preventing the use from automated scripts that run on target systems. Adding a -Force parameter that skips the "are you sure?" check would be very welcome and trivial to implement, without us having to reverse and simulate the behaviour to reach the same effect.
