  1. Agent authentication using key

The agent supports connecting to Log Analytics with a workspace ID and Key. Allowing agents from any cloud and domain to connect. I recommend adding a similar agent verification mentor to SCOM. This would improve the ability to manage agents in untrusted domains and external clouds.

  2. Make company knowledge in SCOM editable without Office

A small but important issue have haunted SCOM since its very beginning: You cannot edit Company knowledge without installing Office on the machine you are using to connect to the managementserver, which for larger companies most likely is a TerminalServer.

I have used SCOM for a decade now and it puzzles me that Microsoft still does not manage to either incorporate a rich text editor or at least let us edit the textfield directly without formatting in the operations console.

As a result, we sadly are not using this feature.

  3. Allow SCOM 2019 to uncheck "Install APM" by default in the deployment wizard

It's a big PITA to remember to uncheck the APM box when deploying agents. It's often forgotten by some and we have to go back and strip APM from the target agent. I want to be able to change the default behavior!

  5. JVM Memory Utilization Monitoring through SCOM 2016 or 2019

We would like to know, if Product Group team can help\create a SCOM Management Pack for JVM Memory Utilization. Additional Information : This is not a application, it is a component level utilization in Linux server. our client(standard Insurance) is prime client of Microsoft and it would be great to have this Management Pack

  8. SQL Version Agnostic MP (7.0.15.0) PrincipalName Removed for DBEngines

The new SQL 2017+ management pack for SCOM changes the PrincipalName for DBEngines. It now shows the NetBIOS type instance name instead of the Parent FQDN of the host. Additionally, the alerts do not have the field PrincipalName populated.

This is a breaking change to orchestration and reporting.

Would it be possible to return the PrincipleName and the Instance name?

  9. SCOM 2016/2019 Operations Console on Windows Server Core, cannot import management packs from disk

I believe to have found a bug when attempting to import management packs from disk when using the Operations Console on a Server Core. (Note: Using the Operations Console from a remote computer that is not Server Core works).

    Scenario:

    • SCOM 2016 and 2019

    • Windows Server 2019 Server Core (Have not yet verified with Windows Server 2016 Server Core).

    • The "ServerCore.AppCompatibility~~~~0.0.1.0" Features on Demand (FOD) has been installed.

    • Management server & Operations Console features installed.

When using the Operations Console on the Windows Server 2019 Server Core computer, and when attempting to import management packs from local disks, you receive…

  13. "Time Skew Monitor" in Active Directory MP generates false alerts with low threshold

The "Time Skew Monitor" in the AD MP is based on an LDAP query of the local machine as well as the remote PDC. These are done back to back, but also have retries (and delays) built in. With this design, if either server is busy and takes some time to process the command, or if there are connectivity issues that require retries, all of this additional time is potentially included in the calculated skew. This can lead to the calculated skew being many seconds larger than the actual skew between the machines. This issue has lead to lots of…

  15. Bring in Rule/Monitor to Alert on Windows Activation Status

Currently SCOM does not have the ability to monitor Windows Servers Activation Status in a Windows environment. There is no KMS MP either to supplement this Monitor. Bring this functionality back so SCOM can be used in place of a 3rd party tool.

  17. When an SCOM Agent's Operations System undergoes In-place upgrade, Post upgrade duplicate objects are seen in SCOM related to the Agent

When an SCOM Agent's Operations System undergoes In-place upgrade, Post upgrade duplicate objects are seen in SCOM related to the Agent

In this example Duplicate Disks, Network adapters can been seen. Kevin Holman has blogged about this topic as well - https://kevinholman.com/2019/07/01/do-you-have-duplicate-logical-disks-in-scom/#:~:text=It%20isn't%20terribly%20harmful,in%20SCOM%20as%20a%20whole.

It would be great to have a design change to handle this internally within SCOM rather than Administrators deleting and re-approving the same in the SCOM console.

Lot of manual validation needs to be done as follows:

    1. Once the Agent is deleted, We have to wait to a day for the Agent to be groomed automatically to…
