  1. Enable adding the custom attributes in web Console

SCOM Web Console doesn't have the possibility to show any custom attributes created e.g. it doesnt show the CustomFields and no possibility to hide or add them into the monitoring tab in the web console

  2. Make reports in SCOM more appealing

Most of the times when you export the reports in SCOM to PDF it does not look great. I prefer the Veeam reports overt the SCOM reports since they look much better. Some improvements to make the reports better would be nice.

  3. There should be an option to disable all discoveries and/or all rules and monitoring workflows when importing management packs.

This would allow SCOM administrators to gradually enable/leave disabled monitoring and thereby be in complete control of what exactly is monitored in your environment. It should of course be optional.

  4. SQL MP should be enterprise ready

Today sql MP is recommended for max 50 databases. That's not very enterprise-ish. Maybe a complete rewrite is needed.

  5. Improve authoring experience and delegation for end-users

Currently all authoring has to be done by SCOM Admins. Even if you try to give users access through the Author role, basic templates are not available for those users.
Only SCOM admins can use the MP templates. I think you'd better create a more intuitive and improved standalone Authoring Console and add more MP templates there for creating MP's from scratch. This way more users can benefit from the possibilities in SCOM, rather than having the whole organization depend on the time and capacity of the SCOM guys.

  6. auto-balance agents over all selected management servers

When using multiple management servers, it would be usefull if there was an option to auto-balance the agents over all selected management servers equally.

  7. SCOM Infrastructure performance troubleshooting

Please provide ETW providers that would make it easier for admins to understand why a monitoring service on a management server consumes more resources than others. It would be very helpful if there was a way to see which workflows are being executed, linking workflow details (like Object ID, Rule ID, etc.) with the Process ID and Thread ID that run that on a particular server. This information would be very helpful in chasing resource hungry workflows.

  8. Other type of authentication without certificates in Workgroup mode agent. As Linux agent, autogenerate certificate with the agent install

Other authentication for workgroup or non Kerberos mode without certificates.

For example, as linux agent autogenerate the certificate in the installation.

  9. Network Vicinity View - manually edit Topology

There needs to be an option to manually edit the network topology created by the network discovery. At the moment the process is not transparent why some associations between network components are not visible in the vicinity view.

  10. Private key instead of Certificates for Gateway Authentication

Some customers don't want to go through the complexity of setting up certificate based authentication for gateways and can simply do with a private key for authentication. Similar to how stand alone MMA agents authenticate with OMS services. Would you stop using certificates and use a private key based authentication if this feature was made available to you?

  11. All rules and monitors should have a trigger count before alerting

A lot of errors that are triggered is because there are some short disturbance (network, latency etc) in the Environment. In order to keep "false" alerts down you should be able to set a trigger Count before an alert is generated. For instance an alert should'nt be generated before a rule/monitored has triggered three times. Default value should be one but all rules/monitors should have the possibility to change.

  12. Real time monitoring for troubleshooting purposes

Sometimes need to get the same monitoring data trata comes from MP but in real time as perfmon gets. A troubleshooting tool or add- in that get the same data in real time for a short time.

  13. Create a persistence parameter in Monitors

Add a persistence, either an set interval, or number of intervals before an alert condition generates an alert in the console.
This will keep transient issues (service restarts, reboots) from generating database insertions that are extraneous.

  15. Abilty to use HTML Templates with default SMTP Notification Channel

Currently forced to use external command channels for creating HTML templates for notifications, which can lead to issues with the crossing the asynchronous process limit in the case of an event storm.

  16. Easy way to report monitors/rules and override on a per server or group basis

We are constantly being asked for what is being monitored on our servers (s). This is not an easy question to ask. A report for a server/group showing all monitored/rules and overrides across all management packs would be extremely usefull

  17. Extend Java Discovery and Monitoring beyond Java Enterprise

Currently Java backed monitoring leverages the "beanSpy" application to expose the Java Management eXtension for the running application hosted on services including JBOSS, etc.

However not all business applications are hosted on these platforms, but instead run natively on the JVM interpreter. These applications continue to expose their monitoring details via JMX and should also be monitored from SCOM. Attaching solutions like Jolokia to the runspace will expose JMX to HTTP/JSON which can be easily consumed, or beanspy could be updated to accomplish similar integrations.

  18. Receive any version of a SNMP-trap by default.

Make SCOM by default receive any version of SNMP trap regardless of discovered device version, to relieve us from the pain of manually removing the <Version>-tag from each

and every custom rule, AND/OR make it possible to discover a device as ONLY version v1 (even if it responds to v2).

  20. Make IsMonitorAlert property available in Alert Views

It's a very useful property but available via Powershell only. Ability to sort\filter an alert view by IsMonitorAlert would be very nice. Also some GUI 'marker' for alerts that will not be autoclosed (generated by manual reset monitors or with the 'auto-close alert' option unselected) is welcomed.
