  1. Monitoring of free space in AlwaysOn cluster does not work in SQL 2014

The scripts in SQL 2014 MP does not handle AlwaysOn correct. When evaluated if the database is a replica the property secondaryroleallow_connections is checked and if set to <= 1 the database is skipped. However, this is true even if the script is connected to the primary node which is accepting connections. This causes all free space monitoring for AlwaysOn databases that do not allow connections to secondary nodes to fail without any notice to the users, even when the script is connected to the primary node.

  2. Internal connectors should be sorted alphabetically

When forwarding an alert to a connector, the list is not sorted and so it's difficult to find the right connector, especially when you have 60+ like we do. Any UI element that has a list of options should always be sorted alphabetically.

  3. Add a "non-silverlight" web page that can be customized

a customizable web page where individuals can modify overrides for servers they are scoped for. Overriding rules/monitors is an administrative feature that requires administrator privileges to make changes.

I don't believe giving the keys to the kingdom should be required for users who want to change the threshold for CPU on their serverA or serverB. This puts the burden on the admin to have to make simple changes that should be self-service for application support technician.

When I say "customizable", I mean select a user role, the rules/monitors that can have overrides modified. This would eliminate the being tied to…

  4. Fix the rendering on more than one screen

On multiple screens in TP5 SCOM the buttons don't show up. Some creative Tab + Enter seems to work with the invisible buttons.

    ie
    1) Add computers/groups to OMS - no search button.
    2) Computer and device management discovery - greyed out search buttons.
    3) Computer and device management - Administrative account - missing text
    4) Repair agents - missing button.

  5. A survey on usability of manual reset of monitors

In SCOM currently there are 3 options to reset monitors when the corresponding alerts are resolved. They are Event reset, timer reset and manual reset. The usual expectation is once the alert is resolved, the corresponding monitor that triggered the alert is moved back to healthy state. But this is not the case if the monitor has manual reset. The administrator has to go change the health state of the monitor manually else the monitor will remain in critical state and generate false alerts.
We are trying to understand the usability of manual reset option. Your response to this survey…

  6. Normalize Data in the SCOM DW so that reports like the "Top N" report can be run against all OSes in one report.

There are 3 data values, for example, for CPU performance depending on if it's Win 2008, R2 or Win 2012 (R2). If the SCOM DW could normalize this data I would only have to build one report for CPU or Processor performance, not 3.

  7. Fix Unix Log Monitoring during Maintenance Mode

You have unix/linux log monitoring deployed on a server.
You put the server on maintenance mode for x hours.

    <During Maintenance Mode>
During x hours, there are lines that written to the log which would trigger the alert. But alert not triggered since it's in maintenance mode.
    </>
    <Maintenance Mode Over/>
Log monitoring policy kicks-in. It scans the log file again using the counter BEFORE the maintenance mode. The lines that written during maintenance mode got scanned and triggered an alert. This should not happened.

    Current workaround:
    - Clean the counter file after maintenance mode over.

  8. Make the monitors on SQL agents jobs more flexible

Currenly it is not possible to configure the SQL Agent Job monitors Long Running Jobs and Last Run State to check on specific days a week. The parameters Start Time, End Time and Days Of Week Mask would be most welcome.

Many SQL Agent jobs are configured to run once week or even once a month.

  9. Guide Management Pack Team Foundation Server 2015 deployment induces errors

In the deployment Management Pack Team Foundation Server 2015 in System Center Operations R2 2012 - UR8 found some instructions that may induce the customer to a configuration wrong.

    • Configure run as account in the profile TFS Server as "All targeted objects", even adding in the run as account just the TFS Server. Will cause incorrect configuration alerts in the profile of the TFS Server. It is wise to create a group and add the computers or components that are part of the TFS Server, apply the setting "all targeted object", will produce dozens of alerts on the console…

  10. AD Certificate Service - Online (OCSP) responder Monitoring

Do we have something to monitor OCSP for Active Directory Certificate Services?
    The current MP https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34765
Note: CA only (no support for Online Responder or other Active Directory Certificate Services role Services)

I found a script but I was thinking if we have something embedded for SCOM https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Certificate-Authority-0c39cb4a#content

  11. Bulk Overrides

Today there is no easy way to apply an override to enable/disable rules, or perhaps to change priority on alerts for all rules across all Management Packs given the current toolset. You have to purchase a 3rd party tool like MPStudio from SilectStudio to do so. Please provide enterprise ready authoring capabilities to override common parameters for rules/monitors across 1 to many Management Packs that are selected. Look at the way MPStudio allows you to manage bulk overrides for an example.

When deploying SCOM and tuning the environment, this is an absolute must.

It would be nice to have this…

  12. url

More advanced website monitoring. Check for web page content on a java page.
Have the details on what cause the website to generate an alert directly in the alert

  13. Add a health trend dashboard, which can be scoped to objects or groups

Today, the Management Group Health Trend dashboard is really great to see the trend of alerts in the environment. However it would be useful to duplicate this dashboard but constrain it to just the members of a Distributed App or Group. I spent a lot of time today trying to fabricatre this, to no avail.

  14. SCOM-OMS prerequisites checker tool

Tool which can be used to do prerequisite check for connection between Agent/MS and OMS.
    Based on firewall requirements:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt484101.aspx

including option for Proxy server and Proxy user account.
It would be a great help for deployment and troubleshooting scenarios

  15. Fix the sort by date in the SCOM Console

Today, the SCOM console fails to properly sort columns throughout the UI. For instance, if sorting by created date for something like Web Application Monitors, it sorts by on integer value, not based on date time.

  16. Requesting document that details requirement for Self-Signed Certs in SCOM

I am looking for an official Microsoft document that says self-signed certs are required and should not be removed or altered from managed computers. (STIG disallows self-signed certs) If customer can replace these with their Certs I would like to know the requirements as well as have that documented for my customer usage.

  17. Buffer and send all active email alerts at a later schedule.

Add the possibility to send email notifications at the start of the time range in the subscriber settings.

For example, a subscriber is set to recieve alerts on week days between 07:00 a.m - 04:30 p.m.
Notifications generated outside the time and date range are not beeing sent, as it should.
But it would be great if there would be a choice to send all still active alerts generated between 04:30 p.m to 07:00 a.m to the subscriber at the start of their timerange. Like a headup of what is comming for them.

  18. Have the ability to secure management pack xml files on agent servers so they cannot be read locally using a text editor.

In an ISP multi-tenant solution we have been asked by various customers if it is possible to secure the XML files downloaded from SCOM so they cannot be read as a text file. This is for requested for security purposes.

  19. Windows Server 2016 AD DS TP - Add support for Server 2012 DCs

The new Server 2016 AD DS preview management pack looks really promissing, but should support Server 2012/2012 R2 DCs.

I guess we are not the only one that want to get rid of the old AD MP with the fancy helper objects (OOMADs.msi) - still the scripts are failing for no good reason from time to time.

  20. Using SQL Datacenter Dashboard and Display

SQL Datacenter Dashboard does not display additional Performance/Monitor widgets added on initial display. It only displays the additional widgets if I attempt to add an additional one. I would expect all of the widgets selected including the group, performance, and monitor pieces to display everytime I visit the dashboard. (Using the widget to build a dashboard for Hyper-V and Active Directory groups of objects.)
