  1. Bundle MOM Cert Import with the Gateway Install!

We shouldn't have to copy/paste momcertimport from the installation media to the GW when installing the cert. It should be in the GW installation folder since it's going to be needed in most GW scenarios.

      • Agent and Gateway Failover Management via the GUI

currently Gateway/agent mapping primary and secondary are only available as SCOM CMDLETS. Make the view and change of these via the console. Also include this within the database so it can be reported upon. We manage 50+ gateways and 10+ MS with 5,000 agents. Managing failover is time consuming.

          • Receive any version of a SNMP-trap by default.

Make SCOM by default receive any version of SNMP trap regardless of discovered device version, to relieve us from the pain of manually removing the <Version>-tag from each

and every custom rule, AND/OR make it possible to discover a device as ONLY version v1 (even if it responds to v2).

            • Create a management pack - "do not create a folder" option

When any new management pack is created (for overrides or a new groups) a new folder is always created. As a result UI has tens of empty folders. It would be VERY nice to have and option 'create a new folder' (unchecked by default) in the 'Create MP' wizard.

              • Maintenance Mode with levels

Add diffrent Level of MaintenanceMode, Some time you wan't to set a server or application, into maintenance "Hard", Today, when you have setup a Mantenance for exampel over the weekend, and if something/one other person is activate a new maintenance for a group that the servers belong, the last set or maintenance time is set.
And the servers/app that should be in maintenancemode for the weekend, is in maintenance for less time.
So if possible add Maintenance level like SOFT | HARD . where SOFT is possible to override, but not HARD state.

                • There should be an option to disable all discoveries and/or all rules and monitoring workflows when importing management packs.

This would allow SCOM administrators to gradually enable/leave disabled monitoring and thereby be in complete control of what exactly is monitored in your environment. It should of course be optional.

                  • Support SQL PaaS for OpsMgr Roles

A new SCOM vNext install should support "SQL Database" PaaS for both OpsDB and DW. For the DW vNext should support the "SQL Data Warehouse" PaaS role in Azure.

                    • Add the ability to update an alert's "Owner" field to a security group in AD, and not just an AD user

Currently, you can only update an alert "Owner" field to a user in AD, and not security groups. It would be great if we could leverage AD to assign tickets to such groups, rather than being forced to use the ResolutionState field to achieve the same functionality.

                      • Update MP references when last override to referenced MP is deleted

When an override MP is used, the references do not get updated after the last override to a certain reference has been deleted. This prevents the referenced MP from being deleted. To be able to remove the referenced MP you'll have to manually export/edit the override MP XML, import it back in, and then delete the referenced MP.

                          • Automation in SCOM, like a builtin Orchestrator feature

What I would like is: Orchrestrator and Operations Manager in one product. With the features and functionality of Orchstrator I can automate process. I can link the automatic process to a monitor or rule without need of a separate Orchestrator environment.

I know this is possible with PowerShell and Notification Channel, but with a builtin Orchestrator and Runbook would be easier to automate some processes without a separate environment.

                            • Parsing SNMP traps

Some good network devices has the feature of parsing the SNMP traps. SCOM is still missing it. Undiscovered devices (which are not generis or certified) need this parsing so that received SNMP data can be processed and presented the way we wanted.

                              • A powershell command for removing network devices so i can run it from Orchestrator

I have a work around to add network devices into SCOM using Orchestrator with a SharePoint list as the source and a SharePoint form as the interface.
I have no way of deleting the same devices from SCOM using Orchestrator.
I notice that for the network classes when i query them from powershell many of the values are read only and cannot be changed. i.e. i was hoping to change a network device to deleted so that a SCOM cleanup process would remove the device.
I have seen code used for service manager blogged somewhere and it illustrates how to…

                                • Have a contextual performance widgets out of the box available for dashboards

We've seen wonderful new Management Packs as the new SQL MP & Exchange 2013 MP.
Using their own Visualization Management Pack to show contextual performance widgets in their dashboards.

It would be nice if we had more of this new visualization out of the box available, not only for performance but also in general for state views as Exchange 2013 uses.

Some custom examples are already out there from Wei Out There (and they are so cool :)) :

                                  • Large groups editing crashes SCOM

When you have a large group with either a large amount of Dynamic Members, Explicit Members or Excluded Members. SCOM freezes and crashes on you, and only saving half of the changes you made, if it saves at all.
Is there away to make SCOM not crash when you are working with large groups?

                                    • Easy way to create an override ("buddy") pack, named CORRECTLY, from within the "Override Properties" screen.

All too often I see sloppy unsealed/custom miscellaneous MPs named something like "contoso - Windows Server custom stuff" or "operations server team", and in that MP will be overrides for various workflows which are defined in various separate management packs thus creating numerous dependencies, which is the opposite of best/recommended practice for storing overrides. I suggest adding one or more of the following features:

                                      1) In the Override Properties window->Select destination management pack, upon clicking "New..." , auto-populate the Name: field with a properly spelled/titled MP name suggestion based upon the name of the base MP for the targeted workflow.…

                                      • Improve Dashboard Widgets to have same functionality as standard views

Whether I use a standard view (Alert, State, Perf, etc) or include the same type of view in a dashboard, I would like to see them have all of the same options especially for filtering. For instance you can filter alerts by object class in a standard Alert view, but you cannot in an Alert dashboard widget.

                                        • Create a SCOM Report that Mimics the PAL Reports

The Performance Analysis of Logs (PAL) Tool is an awesome tool for documenting (benchmarking) or troubleshoot a system. There should be something similar in OpsMgr that we can use either as a report or a dashboard.

An ideal solution would be to import templates (like PAL does), so that OpsMgr can then apply it to a system for a period of time. The reports would then function in a similar fashion so that admins can address performance issues or provide benchmarks.
