  1. After Management Server removal, some orphaned objects remain

After the deletion of a management server according the description in https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh456439(v=sc.12).aspx some objects will remain
Those objects can just get deleted through manual operations in the database. ==> Custom SP dbo.sp_RemoveObjectByTypedManagedEntityId
The Health Service Watcher Object always remains after deletion.
This behaviour is reproducible with SCOM 2012 R2 and SCOM 2016

    Expected Behavior
The customer expects that if he strictly follows the step-by-step instructions to remove a management server from the management group, nothing should remain somewhere, neither in the database nore in the filesystem, registry or somewhere else

    Analysis
I reproduced the problematic behavior in two different environments…

  2. BUG in Microsoft SCOM 2016 Web Console: "500 - Internal Server Error" !!!! SOLVED !!!!

    Dear Microsoft IIS/SCOM Developer Team,

we have a absolutely new SCOM 2016 infrastructure and had had until today issue with the SCOM 2016 Web Console.

I created related to "500 - Internal server error" some forum questions. Also I read the similar 500 error on other discusiions in Technet forums.

Finally I found the BUG in SCOM 2016 Web Console!

I will list the bug in IIS/SCOM and my solution, and also want that MICROSOFT should make a statement to this issue!

    ISSUE:

If any user try to access to SCOM 2016 Web Console, "500 - Internal server error" will…

  3. Azure Management Pack

The Azure Management Pack needs serious performance improvements. We should not have to dedicate a management server to run a single management pack.
Trying to run the Azure MP on a shared management server can cause SCOM to grind to a halt.

  4. Prevent running MaintenanceMode from being overwritten

Using the Maintenance Mode Scheduler that came with SCOM 2016 is pretty cool but there is no mechanism to detect if a server is already in MM. If we put a server in maintenance mode e. g. for 48 hours and someone else doesn't know this and schedules another MM let's say for 2 hours then the ealier scheduled MM of 48 hours will be overwritten and the MM ends after the 2 hours. So there should be a logic which checks if a MM is already set and how long. If the newly scheduled time period is shorter than…

  6. Allow Powershell script in Agent task

Currently only vbs is supported, when creating Agent based task. For now, PS is mostly installed on all recent OS please implement support for adding Powershell scripts here.
You can mark it somehow- to distinguish VBS/PS based tasks, so users are not running ( or know and accepts) it on systems which do not support PS.

  7. Add PowerShell cmdlets to create views, rules and monitors in SCOM

Today, there is a measley three PowerShell cmdlets for making new items in SCOM. The only thing we can do with PowerShell is make a New ScomLocation (pretty useful, I will admit), and make a new Management Group connection, or a new resource pool.

That's it. There is very little useful scripting support for SCOM. If you take a look at ConfigMgr, there are more than 100 cmdlets for making new items! This needs to change.

My vote is to first create cmdlets to support making new rules, then new monitors, and finally new views.

    The syntax should be something…

  8. A GUI based approach to create PowerShell rules and monitors

Within the GUI there is no easy way to create PowerShell script monitors and rules. Please add a GUI driven wizard to create those.

under review  ·  SCOM PMs responded

Thanks for your suggestion and up-votes. This request is under review and we will keep this thread updated on developments about the integration.

Meanwhile, I have a question for everyone that requested this feature. Hypothetically speaking, “If” this feature will be available in SCOM console ONLY if you have the OMS addon, would you be willing to/able to use this feature? Do any of you have a limitation of not being able to use OMS along with your SCOM environment?

  10. Discover multiple forests without trusts and properly show them in a diagram

The AD MP still doesn't seem to understand that many organisations have multiple forests, without trusts. If only for DTAP best practices. I would like a topology view, and health rollups, for each forest along with the trusts between them.

Thanks for your feedback. We are now reviewing your feedback and ranking it against the backlog of other requests we have for the ADDS MP. We will update the status of this feedback when we make a decision.

  11. Allow wildcards to exclude some Databases/instance and not all

To exclude an instance or database from discovery, you have to either specify the full name or use * to exclude everything. It would be much more use to be able to exclude '*_clone' or '*test*'.
