  1. SCOM 2019 UR1: AppAdvisor and AppDiagnostics with Edge

AppAdvisor and AppDiagnostics fail to load with Edge as the browser.

It fails with the following errors:

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0 or higher is required for Application Advisor.

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0 or higher is required for Application Diagnostics.

This functionality should be fully supported in Chromium-based browsers. With Internet Explorer being phased out, I'm a little surprised to see this.

  2. Ability to turn off alerts not able to be closed in SCOM 2019

We need to be able to disable the feature preventing alerts from being closed if the monitor is in an unhealthy state.

As it currently stands integration with a Service desk such as Netcool is problematic as if the alert is closed in the service desk when the writeback happens to SCOM the chain breaks as the alert cannot always be closed in SCOM.

    Feature below:

If you close an alert generated by a monitor (from the Operations Console “Active alerts” view) which is in a unhealthy state then the following message will be displayed and the alert will not…

  4. "Web Console"

The HTML Web Console should have the same display features as the full client, for all monitoring views:
-The views should display all the columns that are defined
    -All columns should be sortable
-The views should allow for personalization
-The user should be able to resize the columns

  5. Bug in Azure Management Pack 1.8.0.1 with parameter replacements.

There is a potential bug in Azure Management Pack 1.8.0.1, noticed when we upgraded to the new version recently.

The following workflow and instances will encounter the parameter replacement failure.

    Workflow: Microsoft.SystemCenter.MicrosoftAzure.AlertsMonitor.Insights.ActivityLog.Alert

Instance: Public IP address changes on CHR-Azure Enterprise subscription (microsoft.insights/activityLogAlerts)

Instance: Notify on apphosting related resources (microsoft.insights/activityLogAlerts)

    Instance: NotifyOnRegionIssues (microsoft.insights/activityLogAlerts)

    Failing replacement: $Data/Property[@Name='TargetResourceIds']$

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  6. Provide examples (sample code) for SCOM 1801+ REST API

    Hi,

since 1801 SCOM offers a REST API. That is great and I'd like to leverage it for some cross platform scenarios.

Unfortunately the examples (currently just JavaScript and related to alerts) don't help me.

Please add examples (sample code) in PowerShell , C# or provide Swagger compatibility.

    Many thanks

    Ruben

  7. Path, MP, Class, GUIDs, etc. Columns Needed in Numerous Screens

    • Groups: Add column for MP (where group is defined/stored)
    • Groups: add column to view "total members"
    • Group Explicit Members: Only the DisplayName of classes appear. There are many, many duplicate class names and it's nearly impossible to select the correct one. Add columns for MP and class Name.
    • Subscriptions: add column to view "subscription giud"
    • Performance View: when adding specific rules to a perf view only the DisplayName of the rules appear. Add columns for Name and MP.
    • Management Pack/Alert Tuning: Add path information
    • State Views: Add column for class Name and Monitoring Object ID

  8. After Management Server removal, some orphaned objects remain

After the deletion of a management server according the description in https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh456439(v=sc.12).aspx some objects will remain
Those objects can just get deleted through manual operations in the database. ==> Custom SP dbo.sp_RemoveObjectByTypedManagedEntityId
The Health Service Watcher Object always remains after deletion.
This behaviour is reproducible with SCOM 2012 R2 and SCOM 2016

    Expected Behavior
The customer expects that if he strictly follows the step-by-step instructions to remove a management server from the management group, nothing should remain somewhere, neither in the database nore in the filesystem, registry or somewhere else

    Analysis
I reproduced the problematic behavior in two different environments…

This seems to be a bug. We will look into this and update the thread.

  9. Management Pack for Exchange 2016

Create an updated version of the MP for Exchange 2016 and do the same for 2019. Let's not be lazy. Even if the monitoring did not change much, a new MP is required so that we have proper views, groups, descriptions in alerts, etc.

This isn't the way things should be done: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/exchange/2016/06/13/monitoring-exchange-server-2016-with-system-center-operations-manager/

Especially for a mission critical application like Exchange.

  11. Allow Powershell script in Agent task

Currently only vbs is supported, when creating Agent based task. For now, PS is mostly installed on all recent OS please implement support for adding Powershell scripts here.
You can mark it somehow- to distinguish VBS/PS based tasks, so users are not running ( or know and accepts) it on systems which do not support PS.

  12. Read-Only Administrator Role

There should be a Read-Only Administrator Role that allows the viewing of all the useful views and dashboards in the SCOM Admin pane, but without the ability to perform actions such as run tasks etc.

Our scenario is that we have regulators that say because tasks can be performed against a server (and so someone could, if they want, maliciously run code through SCOM to do something bad to a server), we have to record these sessions and have the accounts managed via tools such as CyberArk.

The issue here is that all of the roles from SCOM Administrator down…

  13. Windows Certificate Monitoring in SCOM.

    Hi Team,

I believe now a days its very common to use Certificates for secure communication including SCOM.

Its surprising we don't have any Mgmt Pack to monitor the same. However, we have third party mgmt. pack already but none is certified yet. I believe there should be certified Mgmt Pack.

    Third Party:

  15. make SCOM Faster!!!

SCOM can be extremely slow and is a constant issue for our users, like embarrassingly slow...Not sure what it will take to improve the console speed but here are some suggestions:
Configure the views to be efficient out of the box.
Disable by default whatever is taking so long to load.
    Re-design the database. More indexes.
Cache the views on the SCOM Console servers.
Make a better search function, so even if it is slow, users can quickly find what they are looking for.
Load pieces of the views at a time, like server name, then health state, then MM.…

  16. Add PowerShell cmdlets to create views, rules and monitors in SCOM

Today, there is a measley three PowerShell cmdlets for making new items in SCOM. The only thing we can do with PowerShell is make a New ScomLocation (pretty useful, I will admit), and make a new Management Group connection, or a new resource pool.

That's it. There is very little useful scripting support for SCOM. If you take a look at ConfigMgr, there are more than 100 cmdlets for making new items! This needs to change.

My vote is to first create cmdlets to support making new rules, then new monitors, and finally new views.

    The syntax should be something…

Within the GUI there is no easy way to create PowerShell script monitors and rules. Please add a GUI driven wizard to create those.

Thanks for your suggestion and up-votes. This request is under review and we will keep this thread updated on developments about the integration.

Meanwhile, I have a question for everyone that requested this feature. Hypothetically speaking, “If” this feature will be available in SCOM console ONLY if you have the OMS addon, would you be willing to/able to use this feature? Do any of you have a limitation of not being able to use OMS along with your SCOM environment?

  19. Logical Chain of Components (Alert Storm Prevention)

We need an option to associate components to each other to prevent an alert storm created by a failure of a central component.
For example if a central router on a remote location fails we get alerts from each component monitored at the location even though its still available locally.

  20. Discover multiple forests without trusts and properly show them in a diagram

The AD MP still doesn't seem to understand that many organisations have multiple forests, without trusts. If only for DTAP best practices. I would like a topology view, and health rollups, for each forest along with the trusts between them.
