  1. HTML5 Portal

This is a request for a web console that is based on HTML5 and not on silver light. I also need full admin functionality in the portal so I don't have to switch between windows and web console.

With SCOM 1801 we have updated VSAE to support Visual Studio 2017.

  3. A way to reset monitors automatically when alert is closed

A lot of customers close alerts generated by monitors. Although they got very good instructions, they don't reset the monitors. PowerShell and Greenmaschine, don't do a very good job in resetting monitors. there should be a way to automatically reset monitors when an alert is closed and/or an option to reset all monitors to a green state.

This problem has been solved and will be shipped in SCOM 2019 (which will release in Q1 2019).

Details on the solution for this problem:
    - An alert generated by monitor will not be allowed to close, if the corresponding monitor is still unhealthy. This will ensure that the health of the monitor and the corresponding alert are in sync.
    - A new dashboard (“Alert Closure Failure”) has been created in Web console, which displays the list of active alerts which have been tried to close but could not close as the corresponding monitors where still unhealthy. This dashboard also allows you to forcefully close any such alerts by resetting the health of the corresponding monitor.

A monitor generated alert closure triggered from ticketing/incident management systems will receive an exception with the alert details, if the alert closure has failed because the corresponding monitor is still unhealthy.

  4. Import MIBs to monitor network devices

A way to import MIB's into SCOM to monitor network devices. This would open a new way to monitor network capabilities from third parties who delivers MIB's.

With the release of System Center 2016 Operations Manager, you now have access to the new Network Monitoring Management Pack generator tool which provides you with extended monitoring for your SNMP-enabled devices by generating your own custom Management Pack. Till tool also has an inbuilt MIB browser which allows you to import MIBs.

  6. Maintenance Mode from clientside by Agent

Maintenance Mode can only be startet via console.

We have a lot of server administrators and automatic scripts which initiate sometimes a reboot.

It would be great when a machine can be switched to Maintenance Mode by the agent, for example with a Powershell CMDlet.

We have made several improvements in the schedule maintenance mode capability in SCOM 2016, may that be to do with surfacing this functionality for operators in the monitoring pane or the client side support. All of this is captured in the blog – https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/momteam/2016/10/24/improvements-to-scheduling-of-maintenance-mode-client-side-via-agent-and-accessibility-to-operators-via-monitoring-pane/

  7. Better / flexible Notifications, Subscriptions

The subscriptions are very limited in setting criterias. A more granular targeting and options would help deliver more accurate notifications. E.g. there is no way to exclude.

We have done enhancements to Notifications and subscriptions area, these enhancements will be shipped with SCOM 2019 (which will be available in Q1 2019).

Enhancements made in Notifications and Subscriptions area:
    - Powerful criteria builder: Administrators will be able to leverage the advanced/flexible criteria builder which enables you to perform “Exclusions”, “OR” operation, regular expressions and multi-level “AND”/“OR” grouping in criteria
    - Rich HTML email: Administrators will be able to leverage the default HTML email template or create their own HTML email content. Operators will be able to directly launch the “Alerts details page”, “Alert Source details page” or the “Rule/Monitor details page” directly from the email to get access to more relevant information.

  8. Allow SCOM to use TLS1.2

This request is to update SCOM to be able to use TLS1.2 as a secure channel method. Currently SCOM 2012R2 and SCOM 2016 do not support TLS1.1, nor 1.2.

This ask has been shipped with SCOM 1807, which enables you to disable the APM component when you deploy the Operations Manager agent from Discovery Wizard in the console, when performing a repair of the agent from the Operations console, and similarly controlling behavior when using the PowerShell cmdlets Install-SCOMAgent and Repair-SCOMAgent.

This feature ask will also be shipped in SCOM 2019.

Issues related to APM, crashing the IIS application pools has been fixed and shipped with SCOM 2016 UR6: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4459897/update-rollup-6-for-system-center-2016-operations-manager#enable

Fix to these issues, will also be available in SCOM 2019.

Thanks for your request to update Visual Studio Authoring extensions to work with Visual Studio 2015. An updated version of System Center Visual Studio Authoring Extensions tool with support for Visual Studio 2015 is now available. Both Community and Enterprise editions are supported. Older versions of Visual Studio (2012/2013) continue to be supported. There are no other new features.

You can download the tool from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30169 .

  12. Provide fast Web-based Dashboard-functionality

For SLO's the most obvious usage is that management want to see that the services meet the SLO's. However, there is no good functionality to let them do so in SCOM today.
Having them log in to a link on the web console takes way too long and providing them with the out-of-the-box reports is not good-looking.

The web presentation layer for this must be more appealing and fast-loading (2-5 seconds) as it is to be viewed at executive meetings. Having this online and available would make SCOM invaluable and the no 1 source for this data from their perspective. …

  13. Correct the fact that all UNIX/Linux-based monitor health states are reset when a Management Server (or Gateway) is rebooted.

When a Management Server (or Gateway) is rebooted, all UNIX/Linux-based monitor health states are reset, resulting in the subsequent re-generation of a slew of alerts for all related x-plat agents

  14. Support for 2012 Agents for SCOM 2019

We need support in SCOM 2019 for agents that are running Server 2012. And, really, for 2008R2 agents. I understand that 2008 is EOL in January, but it is now March (we also have plenty of 2008 in production) At this point we cannot upgrade to SCOM 2019 without at least 2012 support, and preferably 2008R2.

  16. Fix SSRS 2017 Integration

When rolling out SSRS 2017, once you add the SCOM Report Server role to it, the Reports page only gives a 500 error. Reports work in the console, but can no longer get to the web interface.

With SCOM 1801 we have shipped HTML5 dashboards removing Silverlight dependency and allowing access of Web Console from multiple browsers. With this release Web Console is completely HTML based. Authoring experience has been simplified with an open layout dashboard.

  19. Fix maintenance Schedule replication on HA SQL for SCOM

With SCOM Always On sql architecture. Whenever a maintenance schedule is created it is not replicated to secondary DB. This requires manual effort with DB permissions to replicate the SQL agent job. The schedule is not effective until its replicated which eliminates the self service feature for end users. Not every one has DB permissions.
