  1. DHCP Management Pack best practice settings published.

DHCP management needs to change since it collects a large amount of data per scope. It generates Event ID 623 in the OPs manager log about the Health Service store has reached it maximum size. The agent is constantly doing a state change from healthy to unhealthy. If there was a config document on what to turn off in the MP would be helpful.

  2. Update SCOM to support CNG key stores

Currently, even the latest version, 1807, does not support the use of CNG key store based certificates. This goes against Microsoft best practices of not using CSP key store based certificates. ADFS began support in version 4.0. Even SCCM now supports it as of its latest version. This makes this product unusable in environments requiring CNG certificates.

  3. Provide examples (sample code) for SCOM 1801+ REST API

    Hi,

since 1801 SCOM offers a REST API. That is great and I'd like to leverage it for some cross platform scenarios.

Unfortunately the examples (currently just JavaScript and related to alerts) don't help me.

Please add examples (sample code) in PowerShell , C# or provide Swagger compatibility.

    Many thanks

    Ruben

  4. better query builder

I wish there was more of a user friendly way of creating queries for SCOM group, I been working on a group of non prod SQL server DB engine from 2005 -02017. using regular expression it is so messy. wish there was a better way to build the query.

  5. Multi-homed Gateways

    Multi-homed Gateways would allow to...
    a) reduce the number of servers if you have a small number of agents within the same DMZ reporting to 2 separate Management Groups.
    b) allow failover of agents from a production to a DR management group.
    c) accommodate agent failover for Red Forest security scenarios.

  6. AD Integration from Gateways

Prior to SCOM 2012, AD Integration workflows could be run on a Management Server or on gateway in a remote domain. Beginning in 2012, the AD Publishing Pool owner performed any publishing, which removed the ability to publish SCOM containers in non trusted domains.

  7. Path, MP, Class, GUIDs, etc. Columns Needed in Numerous Screens

    - Groups: Add column for MP (where group is defined/stored)
    - Groups: add column to view "total members"
    - Group Explicit Members: Only the DisplayName of classes appear. There are many, many duplicate class names and it's nearly impossible to select the correct one. Add columns for MP and class Name.
    - Subscriptions: add column to view "subscription giud"
    - Performance View: when adding specific rules to a perf view only the DisplayName of the rules appear. Add columns for Name and MP.
    - Management Pack/Alert Tuning: Add path information
    - State Views: Add column for class Name and Monitoring…

  8. when the MP for 365 generates an alert it includes the incident number and the portal url, we'd like it to include a direct link to the inci

when the MP for 365 generates an alert it includes the incident number and the portal url, we'd like it to include a direct link to the incident within the portal.

Office 365 Incident Active Incident TM143856: Service degradation for Microsoft Teams (ServiceDegradation) https://portal.office.com/ServiceStatus/ at the moment someone has to connect to the url login and then find the details for the incident. We'd like the MP to provide a link directly to the incident details.

  9. SSMS != SQL Server

SCOM is apparently assuming that a machine with SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) installed must also have SQL Server installed and is alerting with "MSSQL 2014: Monitoring warning" or "MSSQL 2016: Monitoring warning" for all of our RDS VMs used by our IT group. SSMS has been a separate install for quite some time now and the SQL Management Pack needs to be updated to handle that properly.

  10. Add OS "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 for .SAP" to default Linux management pack

Add OS discovery "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 for .SAP" to default Linux management pack. Currently the Attribute caption is hardcoded "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12". Discovery of SLES for .SAP is not possible, OS shown as "Unknown"

  11. Prevent running MaintenanceMode from being overwritten

Using the Maintenance Mode Scheduler that came with SCOM 2016 is pretty cool but there is no mechanism to detect if a server is already in MM. If we put a server in maintenance mode e. g. for 48 hours and someone else doesn't know this and schedules another MM let's say for 2 hours then the ealier scheduled MM of 48 hours will be overwritten and the MM ends after the 2 hours. So there should be a logic which checks if a MM is already set and how long. If the newly scheduled time period is shorter than…

  12. Controlled agent rollout

When updates are applied to SCOM there is usually an update to the SCOM client agent also. Unfortunately there is no way from the SCOM console to roll the agent update out in a controlled manner. While in SCCM there is the ability to send the updated client to different deployment rings. This sort of functionality would be ideal in SCOM.

  13. Web Console SCOM 1801 needs the possibility to add columns in the alert view

    Web Console 1801:
Add the possibility to add columns in the alert view in order to view custom fields or other available fields from an alert.

  14. Management Pack tuning feature needs path information!

The Management Pack tuning feature needs path information included when viewing the alert/override sources. For example logical disk space alerts will only show the instance name - C:\ .... but we don't have any visibility of the hosting path information e.g the hosting server name, or another example SQL DB Engine.

Please add an additional column which shows the full path information

  15. SCOM 2016 should have maintenance to clear out unused space with SQL 2016

SCOM 2016 has a issue that becomes evident over enough time where unused space on Performance and Event Tables grows and eats up the space in the SCOM SQL Database to the point that SCOM can not perform its nightly maintenance and then a Group job across the 62 partitions needs ran to clear out this unused space. The maintenance to clear out this space should already be included to accommodate the issue where SQL 2016 changed its bulk insert.

  16. After Management Server removal, some orphaned objects remain

After the deletion of a management server according the description in https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh456439(v=sc.12).aspx some objects will remain
Those objects can just get deleted through manual operations in the database. ==> Custom SP dbo.sp_RemoveObjectByTypedManagedEntityId
The Health Service Watcher Object always remains after deletion.
This behaviour is reproducible with SCOM 2012 R2 and SCOM 2016

    Expected Behavior
The customer expects that if he strictly follows the step-by-step instructions to remove a management server from the management group, nothing should remain somewhere, neither in the database nore in the filesystem, registry or somewhere else

    Analysis
I reproduced the problematic behavior in two different environments…

  17. support maintenance schedules which targets a SCOM group with a lot of members

When a maintenance schedule targets a SCOM group with 500+ members/objects to put into maintenance mode, each object is put into maintenance mode simultaneously. This means each object will exit maintenance mode simultaneously as well. This results in a very large MaintenanceModeStage table in the data warehouse. The rule which processes this table has a 30 second timeout, while it takes several minutes to process all entries, and raises multiple 31551 events. The timeout value cannot be changed.
Would it be possible to either not put each group object in maintenance mode simultaneously, or to allow the timeout value to…

  18. Allow SCOM Unix Agent to Run as a non-root account with elevated privileges

At current time, the Unix agent for SCOM 2012 R2, 2016 and 1801 requires that the agent software run with root user credentials. Any software that runs directly as the root user is a security risk.

I'd like to see a future version of the SCOM Unix Agent that could run as a non-root user, with elevated privileges, so that the agent can properly monitor the Unix client while minimizing security risks.

  19. Bug in SCOM 1801 webconsole view (with workaround)

    Hi,

After upgrading SCOM to 1801 you'll get a blank page when trying to access the webconsole with URL "...../operationsmanager".
This bug only appears in IE11 - other browsers (chrome/FF/Edge) represent the webconsole without problems.

It seems to be a problem with the document mode (the correct document mode should be "Edge" but "IE=7" is used by default. So IE11 is not able to show the webconsole correctly. To resolve this issue you have to add the following HTTP Response Header in IIS of the websites OperationsManager and MonitoringView:
    Name: X-UA-Compatible
    Value: IE=edge

After that the webconsole will work correctly.

  20. Update the Service Bus and Workflow Manager Management Packs

The Service Bus and Workflow Manager Management Packs are not updated since March 2015: is there any plan for updates?
We're facing an issue in monitoring the databases used by the Service Bus and the Workflow Manager that are hosted in a SQL Server 2014 machine, but SCOM always report them in critical state and the error message states there is no Monitoring Pack for SQL Server installed.
