  2. Event correlation capabilty

The ability to correlate multiple issues into a single root cause e.g. a hyper-v host goes down and the monitoring detects this and provides a single alert that shows that the host is down and what guests are impacted

  3. make SCOM Faster!!!

SCOM can be extremely slow and is a constant issue for our users, like embarrassingly slow...Not sure what it will take to improve the console speed but here are some suggestions:
Configure the views to be efficient out of the box.
Disable by default whatever is taking so long to load.
    Re-design the database. More indexes.
Cache the views on the SCOM Console servers.
Make a better search function, so even if it is slow, users can quickly find what they are looking for.
Load pieces of the views at a time, like server name, then health state, then MM.…

  4. Network Vicinity View - Include VLANs interconnecting devices in the View as an object

Add the VLAN object in the Network Vicinity View to help understand how the servers are connected and also the networking layer 2 topology. The VLAN object is already stored in SCOM DB.

  5. End Node Network Monitoring including Port Visibility without SCOM Agent similar to NNMi

We have a lot of systems that do not have the SCOM agent installed. We currently use HP NNMi for Network Monitoring and would like to move this to SCOM. However, NNMi uses SNMP to discover the network equipment and end nodes. It then provides visibility of the entire network including the port on a switch that a node is attached to. It does this without any agent on the end nodes. I need similar functionality in SCOM. I understand it will do it with an agent installed via port stitching, but I need similar visibility to the end nodes…

  6. Dynamic container membership in Distributed Application

For now, any container in Distributed Application (DA) can contain explicit members only. It will be nice to have the same abilities on DA containers like groups have, dynamic membership for instance.
Yes, its possible in current version of OpsMgr, but not from GUI, with notepad XML authoring only

  8. Enhance the monitoring for Azure

The Azure MP is lagging behind Azure in terms of functionality. I know there is an update due but SCOM needs to integrate better with Azure natively. SCOM should be able to monitor; StorSimple, Service Bus, Traffic Manager, VNETs, S2S VPNs, to name a few!

  9. Provide a management pack for Intune

Provide a management pack for Intune. The inability to provide any Operations Manager monitoring for Intune is a significant gap in the Microsoft story and directly opposed to the stated direction that Microsoft will have a management pack for all products. The cloud based solutions must be able to be monitored!

  10. Simpler Powershell interaction

interacting OpsMgr with Powershell is a nightmare. It must be like in ConfigMgr. Objects (and their properties and actions) in PS must be the same that in GUI

  11. Allow users to create subscriptions

Once an admin has defined channels and subscribers, allowing users to create their own subscriptions will result in a more flexible notification schema and will free admins of this task.

  12. All rules and monitors should have a trigger count before alerting

A lot of errors that are triggered is because there are some short disturbance (network, latency etc) in the Environment. In order to keep "false" alerts down you should be able to set a trigger Count before an alert is generated. For instance an alert should'nt be generated before a rule/monitored has triggered three times. Default value should be one but all rules/monitors should have the possibility to change.

  13. Network Vicinity View / Port Stitching Documentation

At the moment the whole feature network vicinity view topology creation and port stitching is not documented. We need a transparent technical documentation of the feature.
Even your own technical support does now know how to troubleshoot this feature in scom.

  14. Network Vicinity View - manually edit Topology

There needs to be an option to manually edit the network topology created by the network discovery. At the moment the process is not transparent why some associations between network components are not visible in the vicinity view.

  15. Logical Chain of Components (Alert Storm Prevention)

We need an option to associate components to each other to prevent an alert storm created by a failure of a central component.
For example if a central router on a remote location fails we get alerts from each component monitored at the location even though its still available locally.

  16. Easier to discover SQL Cluster

It seems there is no easy way to determine why a SQL Cluster is not being discovered. The host OS gets discovered, but if you don't have all the accounts right and sometimes it still doesn't get discovered. there doesn't seem to be anything in the logs to say why its not being discovered.

under review  ·  SCOM PMs responded

Thanks for your suggestion and up-votes. This request is under review and we will keep this thread updated on developments about the integration.

Meanwhile, I have a question for everyone that requested this feature. Hypothetically speaking, “If” this feature will be available in SCOM console ONLY if you have the OMS addon, would you be willing to/able to use this feature? Do any of you have a limitation of not being able to use OMS along with your SCOM environment?

  18. Multi Tenancy

Better Multi Tenancy support. As an hoster with both datacenter and on-premise customers we need better support for customers integration and general setup in the console.

  19. Support for Powershell 3,4,5 script monitors

Powershell agent only executes Powershell 2.0 commands and does not have support for any other Powershell versions/commands. Add a support to create Powershell script monitor that supports commands from PS 3,4,5.

  20. Real time monitoring for troubleshooting purposes

Sometimes need to get the same monitoring data trata comes from MP but in real time as perfmon gets. A troubleshooting tool or add- in that get the same data in real time for a short time.
