  1. Monitoring as a Service - SCOM as PaaS?

SCOM MS deployment available in the "Azure Gallery" or at least an MS/GW role with pre-requisites on having connectivity to vNet with traditional SCOM MG.

  2. Extended properties for classes to add custom attributes.

We would like to populate CMDB data in SCOM. There are ways to make this happen, but we would prefer to just have some blank values CF1-CF10 and a corresponding powershell cmdlet to do it.

  3. Support SQL PaaS for OpsMgr Roles

A new SCOM vNext install should support "SQL Database" PaaS for both OpsDB and DW. For the DW vNext should support the "SQL Data Warehouse" PaaS role in Azure.

  4. Native VMWare Management Pack

While hardware vendors like Dell, HP, and IBM provide free management packs for SCOM, VMware still requires the purchase of very expensive 3rd party management packs. If SCVMM can natively support VMware and SCORCH can have a native VMware oip, why can't there be a VMware MP?

  5. Management Pack differential reporting.

Many companies have change management policies that require that new monitoring rules or changes in updated MP's are documented and vetted. There should be a native way within SCOM to do a differential report to show all of the rules and monitors that have changed between versions of an MP.

  6. Group Population using PowerShell.

PowerShell Cmdlet to populate "Explicit Membership" groups. Should accept pipeline input or as string. Option to specify class. Here is an Example: Get-SCOMGroup _Displayname *Windows|Get-SCOMClassInstance | Add-SCOMGroup -GroupName 'Custom Windows Computers'

    Another Example $list = Get-Content 'C:\servers.txt'
    $list |Add-scomgroup -ClassDisplayName 'Windows Computer'

  7. Move through large list by letter

When in a large list of groups or similar, I would like to be able to scroll by typing letters. Just like file explorer, if I want to get to files beginning with "S" I press the letter "S" on the keyboard. The same should work within the SCOM console.

  8. Enhance the web application transaction recorder to track mouse movements.

Currently when you configure a web application monitor you cannot simply use the macro recorder to record a sequence of actions using your mouse. Everything has to be hard-coded via URL strings. SCOM web application monitoring should be on par with other web application monitoring tools on the market that allow you to use a recorder to track mouse movement and make things like monitoring a web site via SSO easier.

  9. Offline Catalog

The ability to download and setup an Offline Catalog for secure environments that have no Internet Access. This would not only help when importing new management packs, but when working in Visual Studio in said environment.

  10. Make all Wizards the same

Some wizards have a finish button, some have a close button. Why are they different? The console is soo slow, I would prefer the last button to be "Execute and Close" but it would at least be nice if they were all the same.

  11. Email Alert delivery tracking and auditing.

I often have users who claim that they "never received the SCOM alert". There should be a way in SCOM to track and audit generation and delivery of email alerts. The alert history tab should have info on which email alert subscriptions were triggered.

Email templates should have a way to embed which alert subscriptions were used to generate them.

You should be able to click on an agent-managed system and see what alert subscriptions and groups a system belongs to.....similar to how you can see what email distribution lists a person belongs to in Outlook/Exchange.

  12. Option for no email if alert auto-resolves within delay time frame

Currently in SCOM I can set a delay on a notification subscription. Though, if I set a delay for 10 minutes, and the alert auto-resolves and closes within that time frame I still get a "closed". The purpose of the delay in most environments is because you might not want to see that quick IISReset or something like that.

  13. provide network device root cause analysis

Ability to discover all network devices relationship to avoid many alerts when a switch core is unavailable. There is a monitoring like this in the Exchange management pack

  15. Private key instead of Certificates for Gateway Authentication

Some customers don't want to go through the complexity of setting up certificate based authentication for gateways and can simply do with a private key for authentication. Similar to how stand alone MMA agents authenticate with OMS services. Would you stop using certificates and use a private key based authentication if this feature was made available to you?

  16. Abilty to use HTML Templates with default SMTP Notification Channel

Currently forced to use external command channels for creating HTML templates for notifications, which can lead to issues with the crossing the asynchronous process limit in the case of an event storm.

  17. Ability to Make dashboards public and not require a login without relying on sharepoint.

This would be best paired with the HTML 5 web console request, as to requiring a plugin to see the dashboards can make impromptu presentations a pain.

But without having to define all users into a read only role, I want to be able to flag content as public and not require a login into the web console to view.

Dashboards get created for projects all the time, and need to have good flexibility on who sees the data.

  18. Container Management

Ability to monitor and visualise containers, this should include Linux as well as Nano \ Server core based containers. This should also include integrations into container management systems like Docker

  20. Event correlation capabilty

The ability to correlate multiple issues into a single root cause e.g. a hyper-v host goes down and the monitoring detects this and provides a single alert that shows that the host is down and what guests are impacted
