  1. Create a management pack - "do not create a folder" option

When any new management pack is created (for overrides or a new groups) a new folder is always created. As a result UI has tens of empty folders. It would be VERY nice to have and option 'create a new folder' (unchecked by default) in the 'Create MP' wizard.

  2. Public module for SNMP tables discovery

Now for SNMP custom discovery we have to develop our own solutions. Like this one: http://qndsnmp.codeplex.com/
It would be very nice if PG can provide us with an out-of-box module for this. It could result in more community MPs for network devices. Obviously more network devices are covered by monitoring = more happy customers.

  4. Add file share monitoring

It would be nice if Microsoft provided a file share MP that is able to test, alert and report on up/down share status, growth, service status and read/write ability.

  5. Create a SCOM Report that Mimics the PAL Reports

The Performance Analysis of Logs (PAL) Tool is an awesome tool for documenting (benchmarking) or troubleshoot a system. There should be something similar in OpsMgr that we can use either as a report or a dashboard.

An ideal solution would be to import templates (like PAL does), so that OpsMgr can then apply it to a system for a period of time. The reports would then function in a similar fashion so that admins can address performance issues or provide benchmarks.

  6. selective monitor to choose management pack per server

I would like to have an option to have a monitor nothing to monitoring what I need vs every management pack approach. For example, do my hyper-v hosts need to check for exchange monitors all the time? No so I would like to say these monitors only without doing some big to do for it.

  7. Dynamic graphing

I think it would be cool if scom graphs could highlight point in time areas to zoom in on for more detailed graphs. Its cumbersome to change the date and time to an estimated area.

  8. Easier way to manage non trust systems.

Make it easier to manage non-domain/other domain systems. I understand the need to encrypt communication. But id acceptable I'd like the option to allow non encrypted or bypass security certs and provide encryption. This is more small business friendly. Which I think SCOM should try and be.

  9. SQL MP should be enterprise ready

Today sql MP is recommended for max 50 databases. That's not very enterprise-ish. Maybe a complete rewrite is needed.

  10. Override custom fields

Custom fields if often used to enrich alerts for incident management. When you create an override it should be possible to also override the custom fields, so you are able to determine if/what override caused the alert.

  11. The VSAE template for alert rules should allow specification of alert suppression criteria.

Right now I use the template to create the rule, then cut and past from the mpx to another mpx, add the suppression criteria and then delete the template.

  12. Convert VBS in core MPs to PowerShell

There is no consistency regarding the scripting language used in MP's. Some use VBS, Jscript and a few use powershell. It would be nice if at least all the core MP's "Windows OS"; SQL, AD are changed to PowerShell.

  13. Native DS Module for SQL Analysis services

For Collection rules, please allow Write Action to SQL Analysis cubes; or at least a tool that will allow migrating DW ---> SQL Analysis

  14. Monitoring as a Service - SCOM as PaaS?

SCOM MS deployment available in the "Azure Gallery" or at least an MS/GW role with pre-requisites on having connectivity to vNet with traditional SCOM MG.

  15. Extended properties for classes to add custom attributes.

We would like to populate CMDB data in SCOM. There are ways to make this happen, but we would prefer to just have some blank values CF1-CF10 and a corresponding powershell cmdlet to do it.

  16. Support SQL PaaS for OpsMgr Roles

A new SCOM vNext install should support "SQL Database" PaaS for both OpsDB and DW. For the DW vNext should support the "SQL Data Warehouse" PaaS role in Azure.

  17. Native VMWare Management Pack

While hardware vendors like Dell, HP, and IBM provide free management packs for SCOM, VMware still requires the purchase of very expensive 3rd party management packs. If SCVMM can natively support VMware and SCORCH can have a native VMware oip, why can't there be a VMware MP?

  18. Management Pack differential reporting.

Many companies have change management policies that require that new monitoring rules or changes in updated MP's are documented and vetted. There should be a native way within SCOM to do a differential report to show all of the rules and monitors that have changed between versions of an MP.

  19. Group Population using PowerShell.

PowerShell Cmdlet to populate "Explicit Membership" groups. Should accept pipeline input or as string. Option to specify class. Here is an Example: Get-SCOMGroup _Displayname *Windows|Get-SCOMClassInstance | Add-SCOMGroup -GroupName 'Custom Windows Computers'

    Another Example $list = Get-Content 'C:\servers.txt'
    $list |Add-scomgroup -ClassDisplayName 'Windows Computer'

  20. Move through large list by letter

When in a large list of groups or similar, I would like to be able to scroll by typing letters. Just like file explorer, if I want to get to files beginning with "S" I press the letter "S" on the keyboard. The same should work within the SCOM console.
