  1. AD MP - Global Catalog Data Sources query any GC in the domain

    Issue exists in the current version 10.0.2.1 of the AD MP.

    For the DC Global Catalog performance and availability monitors, as well as the Domain Member Global Catalog performance monitor, the DNS list of IPs returned for the entire domain is used to determine which GC to query. In a large distributed environment like ours, this can mean connecting to a DC all the way across the world, which can obviously cause performance issues. These monitors should also have options to only use local GCs for these tests.

  2. Bug in AD MP - Domain Member Global Catalog Performance Data Source

    Issue exists in current version 10.0.2.1 of the MP.

    In the "Microsoft.Windows.AD.DomainMemberPerspective.Performance.GlobalCatalog.DataSource" datasource, there is a simple bug that is breaking both the AD Member GC Performance Monitor, as well as the Performance collection that also uses this DS. The timer in the script calculates the time in seconds:

    iTime = DateDiff("s", dtStart, Now)

    Unfortunately, the value is returned to the property bag only after the value is divided by 1000:

    Call oBag.AddValue("StatusValue", "" & iTime / 1000)

    The thresholds in the monitor are intended to be seconds, so this is an obvious mistake. You can easily validate this by…

  3. AD Show Replication monitor not working in AD Domain Services MP 10.0.2.1

    AD Show Replication monitor does not work and will always be in a GOOD state.
    The reason to this behavior is the sReplicaDC variable used as an input to the PingServer function in the AD_Replication_Check.vbs script. sReplicaDC contains a space in the end.
    This will make the PingServer function to always return false and not change the state on this monitor.

  4. trust

    Multiple DCs in a forest have a trust with another forest. Due to IPv4 overlap, only certain DCS will be allowed through the firewall to the other forest.
    Overrides to NOT alert on trust errors. The override can target a group or device. The override has trusts to ignore.

  5. Windows Server 2016 AD DS TP - Add support for Server 2012 DCs

    The new Server 2016 AD DS preview management pack looks really promissing, but should support Server 2012/2012 R2 DCs.

    I guess we are not the only one that want to get rid of the old AD MP with the fancy helper objects (OOMADs.msi) - still the scripts are failing for no good reason from time to time.
