  1. Export-SCOMEffectiveMonitoringConfiguration cmdlet should ignore commas in description

The PowerShell cmdlet Export-ScomEffectiveMonitoringConfiguration will output a mis-configured CSV file and of the fields in the monitor contain a comma - such as Description (the most likely one). The cmdlet should ignore commas if finds in any fields, so the exported CSV is properly formatted.

    • Audit SCOM User Role Actions

There should be an option to turn on/off auditing on each of the user role types. We have a need to delegate override privileges to our users and would like to have some insight as to what they are changing and ensure the correct management packs are used for the storage of the overrides.

      • Use Group Managed Service Account for Windows Run As accounts

Allow Group Managed Service Accounts as Run As Accounts.

Managing Passwords of RunAs Accounts can be a pain, why not using Group Managed Service Accounts for Windows account type.

              • Add a "non-silverlight" web page that can be customized

a customizable web page where individuals can modify overrides for servers they are scoped for. Overriding rules/monitors is an administrative feature that requires administrator privileges to make changes.

I don't believe giving the keys to the kingdom should be required for users who want to change the threshold for CPU on their serverA or serverB. This puts the burden on the admin to have to make simple changes that should be self-service for application support technician.

When I say "customizable", I mean select a user role, the rules/monitors that can have overrides modified. This would eliminate the being tied to…

                • A survey on usability of manual reset of monitors

In SCOM currently there are 3 options to reset monitors when the corresponding alerts are resolved. They are Event reset, timer reset and manual reset. The usual expectation is once the alert is resolved, the corresponding monitor that triggered the alert is moved back to healthy state. But this is not the case if the monitor has manual reset. The administrator has to go change the health state of the monitor manually else the monitor will remain in critical state and generate false alerts.
We are trying to understand the usability of manual reset option. Your response to this survey…

                  • The ability to commit configuration changes in bulk instead of 1 per 1

When you have to create overrides to workflows, it always freezes the console when applying overrides or changes to SCOM in general. The SCOM Console than says 'busy' and there is not much you can do.
My idea would be that you can place certain overrides in a 'queue' and then apply them all at once.
Think of a firewall config where you can make the changes first, and apply them later.
This would allow us to make a lot more changes to SCOM without affecting the users of the SCOM console too much as you can apply many overrides…

                    • TSelf-signed certificates on each managed computer should be removed as it hinders environments where a STIG disallows self signed certs

The requirement for Self-signed certificates (used for data encryption) on each managed computer should be addressed as it complicates management of environments where a STIG disallows self signed certs. Also a public (external) official MS whitepaper should be made available which states that these certs should not be altered or replaced with reasons why or a method provided to replace if this is supported.

                      • Event Storm suspension

Just wanted to point out that there is no event collection storm suspension, i had 28million events collected from a server in a short period of time, which flooded the OPSDB, so it would be a good idea to have the ability to suspend the event collection if there is a storm

                          • Buffer and send all active email alerts at a later schedule.

Add the possibility to send email notifications at the start of the time range in the subscriber settings.

For example, a subscriber is set to recieve alerts on week days between 07:00 a.m - 04:30 p.m.
Notifications generated outside the time and date range are not beeing sent, as it should.
But it would be great if there would be a choice to send all still active alerts generated between 04:30 p.m to 07:00 a.m to the subscriber at the start of their timerange. Like a headup of what is comming for them.

                            • All Management Servers Resource Pool alert is useless

So when we get All Management Servers Resource Pool alert it often useless for us. There are no alert context so it is very hard to find the problem scom server.

It would be nice to have a problem server in alert description in all cases.

Such behavior is on 2012r2 u8

                              • A way to reset monitors automatically when alert is closed

A lot of customers close alerts generated by monitors. Although they got very good instructions, they don't reset the monitors. PowerShell and Greenmaschine, don't do a very good job in resetting monitors. there should be a way to automatically reset monitors when an alert is closed and/or an option to reset all monitors to a green state.

Would it help if we added a global setting in Administration → Settings → Alerts that would automatically reset a monitor whenever an alert generated by it is closed?

                                • make SCOM Faster!!!

SCOM can be extremely slow and is a constant issue for our users, like embarrassingly slow...Not sure what it will take to improve the console speed but here are some suggestions:
Configure the views to be efficient out of the box.
Disable by default whatever is taking so long to load.
                                  Re-design the database. More indexes.
Cache the views on the SCOM Console servers.
Make a better search function, so even if it is slow, users can quickly find what they are looking for.
Load pieces of the views at a time, like server name, then health state, then MM.…

                                  • Display Powershell code in SCOM Console when performing tasks.

The Exchange management console and some other System Center products display powershell strings when you perform certain management tasks in the console.

Basically when you do a certain task, the powershell code required to perform that task gets generated and displayed in the console. This allows you to easily cut & paste that code and insert them into your own scripts for automation.

It would be nice if the SCOM console had this same capability.

                                    • Maintenance Mode from clientside by Agent

Maintenance Mode can only be startet via console.

We have a lot of server administrators and automatic scripts which initiate sometimes a reboot.

It would be great when a machine can be switched to Maintenance Mode by the agent, for example with a Powershell CMDlet.

Thank you for your feature request.

Do you think adding a “Maintenance” tab to the agent with Duration, Comments and ‘Reason for Maintenance’ help? Admins who have access to the machine (Even Non SCOM Users) and can change MMA settings, should be able able to access this tab and trigger maintenance mode. This proposed tab would internally fire an event which SCOM will look for and trigger maintenance mode.

Will this solution work for you? Your suggestions are welcome to make “Maintenance Mode from client” a great feature for you to use.

                                      • Customizable admin role

                                        Hi,
it would be great to get a customizable Administrator role. Often there's the request, that SCOM admins should not be able to not touch various Systems (AD, ...).

I could imagine that an Enterprise admin like for AD could be the "top admin" that customizes the roles.

                                        Cheers,
                                        Patrick
