  2. SCOM SDK does not use encryption when it establishes connections to the Operationsmanager & OperationsmanagerDW DB's as how SCVMM does.

We have SCOM & SCVMM databases hosted in the same SQL server and noticed that SCOM SDK does not use encryption when it establishes connections to the Operationsmanager & OperationsmanagerDW DB's as how SCVMM does.

We use the below SQL query to validate the same:

Select distinct se.session_id, dbname= case when dbid = 0 then null when dbid <> 0 then db_name(dbid) end,
    se.login_time,host_name, se.program_name,login_name, con.encrypt_option, getdate() as 'logdate'
    from sys.dm_exec_sessions se
    LEFT JOIN sys.sysprocesses sp on se.session_id = sp.spid
    LEFT JOIN sys.dm_exec_connections con
    ON con.session_id = se.session_id
WHERE NOT encrypt_option IS NULL and db_name(dbid) like '%Operationsmanager%'

    The field named…

  4. Add scrolling or resizing to all Dashboard and Widget UI's

When creating Widgets, some of interfaces do not have any scroll bars or ability to resize the UI and so it's very difficult to select an object in a list. For example, when creating a 'Objects by Performance' widget, when selecting the performance counter, some instance names are very long and so there is no way to choose because the names are truncated, hence I am unable to use the widget.

  5. Overrides label console BUG - SCOM 1801

When you have alerts panel and click on the alerts view, you receive in the right panel an Overrides link, but it seems that IIS doesn't refresh the view but instead glues text one onto another and the link looks like this:

    OverridesOverrides Loading...Overrides

  6. SCOM CI-connector keeps setting Logical Disks to Pending Delete

I can only assume the SCOM team is responsible for the SCOM CI-connector as well.

We're seeing a lot of disks being marked as "pending delete" from SCOM, and having them being set to Active again with the SCCM connector. In this case, the SCCM connector is correct. This poses problems since we use the disk size reported from SCCM to produce sizing reports and forecasts.

  7. Allow tasks to be selected and ran as a diagnostic or recovery task

Have a drop down in the diagnostic and/or recovery tasks for a monitor that allows you to select a task that can be executed manually from the console. Also allow for a library of diag/recovery tasks to be created so you don't have to create a new one with each monitor. For example, restarting services. Or pulling in restart application pool from the IIS MP to allow the monitor to auto restart the app pool.

  8. Create Configurable Discovery Groups Under Agent Managed

I had a customer suggest that it would be nice to have groups that are configurable with Queries. The queries can target OUs, use PowerShell, target AD Queries, Use SCCM Collections, etc. The basic methods are nice but more automation around deploying agents is needed.

For Large Management Groups it becomes difficult to sort through the huge list of servers in Agent Managed, being able to break it up would be mush easier to manage agents.

  9. Add alert thresholds to performance views

Add the warning and critical thresholds to performance views as lines across the charts.

  10. Regularly update the managementpack page versions and dates

Regularly update the managementpack page versions and dates

The site https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16174.microsoft-management-packs.aspx were you can find all managementpacks is showing old dates and versions.
For example currently the pack for DHCP 2016 and higher is showing version 1.0.11.0 while there is already a newever version. You now only see this when you click into that pack so it's not easy to see which new or updated packs are released recently.
And while you work on it make also the date column sortable so i can overview the newest packs on top.

  11. An option to modify the alert description on sealed MPs

Some of the alert names and description are hard to understand in Operations. If we could override or change the these objects on sealed MPs, this would make the console easier to understand.

  12. Allow for management servers be excluded from All Management Servers resource pool without breaking automatic membership for new servers.

For proxies that use Management Servers as their base (Veeam Collectors), removing them from the all management servers resource pool breaks automatic membership for new management servers. It would be nice to have a way to mark management servers somehow to NOT be included in the all management servers resource pool, perhaps by an attribute, so that new servers will still be included in that resource pool.

  14. Fix the rendering on more than one screen

On multiple screens in TP5 SCOM the buttons don't show up. Some creative Tab + Enter seems to work with the invisible buttons.
    ie
    1) Add computers/groups to OMS - no search button.
    2) Computer and device management discovery - greyed out search buttons.
    3) Computer and device management - Administrative account - missing text
    4) Repair agents - missing button.

  15. Set Rules to Auto Close

Have the ability to set Rules to autoclose. Sometimes a server reboots and causes multiple failed Rules and I have to manually close them.

  16. Alert view for Alerts with other resolution states

I have several alerts per object in the Active Alerts, I am trying to right-click the object owning the alerts and open alert view per this object, and I get an empty window.
We are using several resolution states, and we have noticed using SQL Profiler that the default view that is opening when right-clicking an object only scopes for NEW alerts. It should be all alerts without the closed ones

  17. Deep insight of issues with Graphic UI

If there's option to show users to highlight where's the problem lies, it will be helpful to resolve the issue progressively; Meaning we can tell users, here is the issue and so alert generated with graphic interface.
It's possible and you guys may be aware of the same. It's easier and effective approach.

  18. Service level objective availbility ignores maintenance mode in DA childobjects

Availbility SLOs only read the maintenance mode from the root of the targeted object. If it is a distributed application all child object maintenance modes are ignored and the objective can not report or compute the maintenance mode times correctly.
I do not want maintenance mode rollup, i want queries that deliever the correct data.
I do not want to set the child object AND the DA root to maintenance. None of the engineers know in wich DA the specific object is used so if they do their work the DA is never affected. Pretty useless at the moment. I've…

  20. Operator permissions to view configuration and thresholds

Operators are often asking for the effective threshold and configuration of a workflow at the moment a state change is happening or an alert is generated.

Giving the operators the permissions and an easy way to view the effective threshold and configuration would ease life and make there work a lot easier.
