Do you have an idea or suggestion based on your experience with SCOM? We would love to hear it!   1. Provide examples (sample code) for SCOM 1801+ REST API

    Hi,

    since 1801 SCOM offers a REST API. That is great and I'd like to leverage it for some cross platform scenarios.

    Unfortunately the examples (currently just JavaScript and related to alerts) don't help me.

    Please add examples (sample code) in PowerShell , C# or provide Swagger compatibility.

  2. Ability to turn off alerts not able to be closed in SCOM 2019

    We need to be able to disable the feature preventing alerts from being closed if the monitor is in an unhealthy state.

    As it currently stands integration with a Service desk such as Netcool is problematic as if the alert is closed in the service desk when the writeback happens to SCOM the chain breaks as the alert cannot always be closed in SCOM.

    Feature below:

    If you close an alert generated by a monitor (from the Operations Console “Active alerts” view) which is in a unhealthy state then the following message will be displayed and the alert will not…

  3. Gateway Server should ping Agents

    Agents managed by a Gateway Server should be pinged by that instead of a Management Server.

  4. Email Alert delivery tracking and auditing.

    I often have users who claim that they "never received the SCOM alert". There should be a way in SCOM to track and audit generation and delivery of email alerts. The alert history tab should have info on which email alert subscriptions were triggered.

    Email templates should have a way to embed which alert subscriptions were used to generate them.

    You should be able to click on an agent-managed system and see what alert subscriptions and groups a system belongs to.....similar to how you can see what email distribution lists a person belongs to in Outlook/Exchange.

  5. SCOM 2019 support for 2008 R2 Clients

    We need support in SCOM 2019 for agents that are running Server 2008 R2. Almost a quarter of our servers are still 2008 R2, and this is a huge hang up for us in moving up. Since these are more legacy systems, most are also unable to be updated.

  6. Configure monitor for specific time period

    It would be great if we can configure monitoring for certain time period. Example for Service Monitoring - We would like to generate an alert for service when it down in business hours between 8:00 AM to 6:00PM. Same thing with CPU, Memory, Event based and Performance counter monitors. I do not see we can create or stop monitoring for specific time period in SCOM 2012 R2.

  7. Make the SCOM Console Windows Stop Disappearing

    Working in the SCOM console, when closing a window the console will occasionally disappear. You have to go to the task bar to find it and re-select the window.

    To reproduce this; First make sure the SCOM Console is full screen. Then click on an alert created by a rule. In the alert details, open up the rule by clicking on it.

    Then click Configuration, and View.

    Then close both windows.

    The SCOM Console will disappear.

    Monitor must change its state to something different than Healthy in any situations when it cannot be executed or executed with error (unloaded, timeout, and so on). Currently it`s state remains Healthy even if its script never executed successfully.

  9. Delay config updates on Agents (management pack changes)

    Please find a way yo delay config updates on the agents so not every agent gets the update at the same time. Spread the updates over a period of time or random intervals within a time period.

    example:all agents gets the update within a period of 15 minutes and not all agents at the same time as it is today. This would be a nice feature to have.

  10. Time and weekday based overrides

    it would be great if a override can be set for a specific time range. for example: because of the backup each night between 2am and 3am the cpu utilization is higher then normal. Therefor I want to have a higher threshold set for this time. It would be even better if you also can set the weekday for such an override, for example only an Saturday and Sunday between 2 and 3am

    Visio 2016 SCOM Addin support for creating dashboard, or integrate something like this into SCOM without needing Visio. I supported a number of customers that want this but are unaware of the feature until I present it to them as part of their requested solution.

  12. Incorporate Alert Correlation tehniques into SCOM

    We have multiple SCOM servers and management group and our service desk constantly ask why when there is a problem with a server or service do we get so any alerts. Can we only display a root cause or an aggregated alert with the subsequent alerts attached. E.g. A high level alert with all other alerts display underneath this generic alert?

  13. 4K Resolution support for SCOM console

    SCOM console seems to not fully support 4K resolution. If you open overrides window the enable checkboxes are hidden and many other views are not aligned properly.

  14. Ability to duplicate a subscription

    Today, there is no way to duplicate a subscription from within the SCOM console.

    This is a pain, because the wizard for creating a subscription in SCOM is very, very verbose with numerous pages. So when I have to create multiple subscriptions which only differ from each other slightly, I want to smash my face into the nearest blunt object.

    This would be one of those quick fix solutions which would reduce the pain involved in using SCOM.

  15. Remove at (least the) dutch language from the console

    When editing MP's the Dutch language settings keep coming back. Please remove them from scom, I don't believe anyone in the Netherlands is using them.

  16. ServiceNow ITSM Integration

    A native SCOM to ServiceNow ITSM integration to enable creation of tickets to the correct support team with alert/incident being resolved from either end i.e. if an operator closes an alert in SCOM, the corresponding ServiceNow incident should also be closed, and likewise, if the Incident is resolved in the ServiceNow incident, the corresponding SCOM alert should also be closed.

    ServiceNow has become a popular ITSM solution and the ability to close-the-gap between alert generation in SCOM and incident/ticket raising in ServiceNow without having to invest in a third-party tool is vital.

  18. Expose Maintenance Mode in SCOM 1801 REST API

    The new REST API should expose the ability to use Maintenance Mode. This would make it easier to use Maintenance Mode programmatically

  19. Built in timer schedule for monitors

    Have a scheduled monitor module on all monitor types allowing users to turn off alerts at certain times of day removing the need to write your own module and recreate existing monitors with that module included.

  20. Dramatically improve the presentation layer

    This is the biggest issue when it comes to 'selling' SCOM to a broader internal audience, be they IT or beyond. It's so frustrating that, despite its capabilities, the arguments for it are always seriously undermined by insipid health, performance views and reports.

    MP's should have out of the box views that really provide the wow factor. For example the tile views in the more recent SQL MP's are fantastic. The introduction of tiles in dashboards has been generally a boon but only compared to the paucity of decent visuals to date.
