iPhone, Android or Windows Phone App
A mobile phone and tablet app that an on-call operator can use to receive notifications on and see meaningful information for those objects they have Scope to view is missing.
Within the app, the operator should be able to acknowledge, close or escalate an alert, drill-down into the Health Explorer and see views, dashboards similar to what they have been scoped to have access to from their User Role membership and Subscriptions.

Ability to duplicate a subscription
Today, there is no way to duplicate a subscription from within the SCOM console.
This is a pain, because the wizard for creating a subscription in SCOM is very, very verbose with numerous pages. So when I have to create multiple subscriptions which only differ from each other slightly, I want to smash my face into the nearest blunt object.
This would be one of those quick fix solutions which would reduce the pain involved in using SCOM.

Gateway Server should ping Agents
Agents managed by a Gateway Server should be pinged by that instead of a Management Server.

Maintenance Mode Exit Health status not a New state change
When SCOM enters maintenance mode and then exits it will re-examine the health of objects and re-discover issues that have already been raised previously - causing more alerts. It should check previous state before maintenance and not re-alert for something that has not changed. Alternatively if the state of alert is changed to something like "Acknowledged" then it should not keep alerting or appearing as a "New" state change.

Increase the Number of SDK/Console Connections to Operations Manger
Currently 50 SDK connections is the Max you can have to a Management Group. This limits certain larger customers to have to have multiple MGs in order to satisfy the number of console connections via Web Console, Thick Console or SharePoint Webparts. For instance, I have a customer that needs to have 3 Management Groups to allow all the SysAdmins console connection capabilities (Roughly 120 Console Connections). It becomes a SCOM admin nightmare to try and manage 3 MGs.

Configure monitor for specific time period
It would be great if we can configure monitoring for certain time period. Example for Service Monitoring - We would like to generate an alert for service when it down in business hours between 8:00 AM to 6:00PM. Same thing with CPU, Memory, Event based and Performance counter monitors. I do not see we can create or stop monitoring for specific time period in SCOM 2012 R2.

Health Explorer: Grey out "Recalculate Health" unless a monitor has OnDemandDetection
Most unit monitors in MPs do not have OnDemandDetection implemented. Hence clicking on "Recalculate Health" in Health Explorer will not provide the results an operator might expect.
Please consider greying that button out should a monitor only feature RegularDetection.22 votes -
Add scrolling or resizing to all Dashboard and Widget UI's
When creating Widgets, some of interfaces do not have any scroll bars or ability to resize the UI and so it's very difficult to select an object in a list. For example, when creating a 'Objects by Performance' widget, when selecting the performance counter, some instance names are very long and so there is no way to choose because the names are truncated, hence I am unable to use the widget.

Workflow Analyzer tool for Operations Manager 2012
For Troubleshooting Operations Manager Workflows Support team require Workflow Analyzer (available for 2007 r2) or some thing similar so such workflows that have initialize or not getting updated issue can be debugged and troubleshoot.

Email Alert delivery tracking and auditing.
I often have users who claim that they "never received the SCOM alert". There should be a way in SCOM to track and audit generation and delivery of email alerts. The alert history tab should have info on which email alert subscriptions were triggered.
Email templates should have a way to embed which alert subscriptions were used to generate them.
You should be able to click on an agent-managed system and see what alert subscriptions and groups a system belongs to.....similar to how you can see what email distribution lists a person belongs to in Outlook/Exchange.

Built in timer schedule for monitors
Have a scheduled monitor module on all monitor types allowing users to turn off alerts at certain times of day removing the need to write your own module and recreate existing monitors with that module included.

Time and weekday based overrides
it would be great if a override can be set for a specific time range. for example: because of the backup each night between 2am and 3am the cpu utilization is higher then normal. Therefor I want to have a higher threshold set for this time. It would be even better if you also can set the weekday for such an override, for example only an Saturday and Sunday between 2 and 3am

Write perf.data to DB when alert has been raised.
It would be great to see the current value of a perf.counter in the perf.views (and reports) when an alert has been raised independently of the perf.collection rules schedule and data optimization setting.
Then the discussions about the difference would finally come to an end.

Event correlation capabilty
The ability to correlate multiple issues into a single root cause e.g. a hyper-v host goes down and the monitoring detects this and provides a single alert that shows that the host is down and what guests are impacted

Dramatically improve the presentation layer
This is the biggest issue when it comes to 'selling' SCOM to a broader internal audience, be they IT or beyond. It's so frustrating that, despite its capabilities, the arguments for it are always seriously undermined by insipid health, performance views and reports.
MP's should have out of the box views that really provide the wow factor. For example the tile views in the more recent SQL MP's are fantastic. The introduction of tiles in dashboards has been generally a boon but only compared to the paucity of decent visuals to date.
We need access to views that are designed…

Option for no email if alert auto-resolves within delay time frame
Currently in SCOM I can set a delay on a notification subscription. Though, if I set a delay for 10 minutes, and the alert auto-resolves and closes within that time frame I still get a "closed". The purpose of the delay in most environments is because you might not want to see that quick IISReset or something like that.

Operator permissions to view configuration and thresholds
Operators are often asking for the effective threshold and configuration of a workflow at the moment a state change is happening or an alert is generated.
Giving the operators the permissions and an easy way to view the effective threshold and configuration would ease life and make there work a lot easier.

More functionality in the SCOM 2016 web console
I understand that this is one of Microsoft's first passes with HTML 5, but really? Why isn't there a 'home' link when you use the alert link to first access the SCOM web console. One has to delete everything beyond /operationsmanager to get back to the other views. Also, why can we only select 1 object at a time (i.e. Windows computers, for maintenance mode and bulk alert management?
Any plans for improvement? Is there a subscription that's available to tell me when new updates are available?
