  1. A GUI based approach to create PowerShell rules and monitors

Within the GUI there is no easy way to create PowerShell script monitors and rules. Please add a GUI driven wizard to create those.

  2. Logical Chain of Components (Alert Storm Prevention)

We need an option to associate components to each other to prevent an alert storm created by a failure of a central component.
For example if a central router on a remote location fails we get alerts from each component monitored at the location even though its still available locally.

  3. Update the 2007 Authoring Console tool

The 2007 MP Authoring Console for SCOM 2008 R2 was a very easy to use GUI driven tool. I know I can use MP Author, Visual Studio, etc...but this tool was SO much more intuitive and easier for MP authoring and editing. We need a 2012/2016 version to work with the new MP schema of 2012 MPs.

  4. VSAE Support for Visual Studio 2019 and System Center 2019

VSAE should support Visual Studio 2019 and System Center 2019

  5. Web Test created in VS should run internally as well

Currently we could create web tests in Visual Studio and run them from agents in GSM, but it works only for public facing web sites. That would be awesome for internal use as well.

Microsoft would offer a new great feature to SCOM and would have the opportunity to sell more VS Ultimate Editions ;-)

    Thanks,
    Patrick

  6. Add PowerShell cmdlets to create views, rules and monitors in SCOM

Today, there is a measley three PowerShell cmdlets for making new items in SCOM. The only thing we can do with PowerShell is make a New ScomLocation (pretty useful, I will admit), and make a new Management Group connection, or a new resource pool.

That's it. There is very little useful scripting support for SCOM. If you take a look at ConfigMgr, there are more than 100 cmdlets for making new items! This needs to change.

My vote is to first create cmdlets to support making new rules, then new monitors, and finally new views.

    The syntax should be something…

  7. Support for Powershell 3,4,5 script monitors

Powershell agent only executes Powershell 2.0 commands and does not have support for any other Powershell versions/commands. Add a support to create Powershell script monitor that supports commands from PS 3,4,5.

  8. Bulk Overrides

Today there is no easy way to apply an override to enable/disable rules, or perhaps to change priority on alerts for all rules across all Management Packs given the current toolset. You have to purchase a 3rd party tool like MPStudio from SilectStudio to do so. Please provide enterprise ready authoring capabilities to override common parameters for rules/monitors across 1 to many Management Packs that are selected. Look at the way MPStudio allows you to manage bulk overrides for an example.

When deploying SCOM and tuning the environment, this is an absolute must.

It would be nice to have this…

  9. Authoring tools - please create extension for VSCode

Hello! I think it would be great if you created VSCode extension that adds to authoring of Management Packs - features like intellisense, class definitons and so on. I guess VSCode would be a nice tool to edit XML files, if it had proper definitions.

    Thanks!

  10. Allow Powershell script in Agent task

Currently only vbs is supported, when creating Agent based task. For now, PS is mostly installed on all recent OS please implement support for adding Powershell scripts here.
You can mark it somehow- to distinguish VBS/PS based tasks, so users are not running ( or know and accepts) it on systems which do not support PS.

  11. Simplify maintenance mode

It is hard to put a machine with dependicies in maintenance mode.
For example in cluster you have to put the machine in maintenance mode, the cluster, some services on the other machines in the cluster.
If that could be simplifyed it would be good.
Like: maintenance mode for machine and dependencies.

  14. Better Authoring Documentation

Brian Wrens documents and MVA course are excellent, however they could be complimented by some examples (i.e. how to create a relationship based on a reg key etc). Information of this type currently needs to be gleamed from forums, Community MPs and at times just hours of experimentation. Which takes a long time and is extremely frustrating. Surely there is enough content in the standard Microsoft MPs to be able to quickly create a library of examples. I

  15. Fix work with csv in vsae

When import data to snippets data can be ruined randomly

    For example, we have Columns:

    Number
    Interval
    URL
    ProcessDataMode
    DayWindow
    IS
    XmlEnabled
    Xpath
    Operator
    XmlValue
    NumSamples
    StatusCodeText
    XMLText

    And data for it

    1,60,http://mss-mmvb4/,<Daily><Start>09:15</Start><End>22:00</End><DaysOfWeekMask>62</DaysOfWeekMask></Daily>,108MC,true,/Root/source/@connectionStatus,Equal,Connected,-,-

After importing to VSAE values will be in random columns. No difference if we have column names in csv in 1 line. Its a bug and it forces me to edit data in vsae, not in excel, for example

These is screen shot with error , as you can see all data above red line is wrong !

  16. select which MP should run on which Group

like a wizard to select which MP (monitors , discoveries, and rules ) to be run on which Group of servers.

so customer just want to monitor the base OS for a group of servers and not to discover or be alerted for other MPs
so that will scope the alerts and discovers more !

  17. Dynamically create Knowledge

I have had multiple customers ask if we can dynamically compile product knowledge.

By this I mean an alert is raised within Operations Manager, the knowledge associated with the alert could be tailored for a specific Rule or Monitor AND Discovered Instance.

This would then allow such knowledge as internal escalation procedures to be concise and contextual.

A suggested example of this could be applying some sort of condition detection using the Full Path Name as a string and if it matches, display certain text for that specific instance.

  18. Management Pack to monitor ADFS 2019 MP

HI, Brian Wren had mentioned that Microsoft would always have a Management Pack for every Microsoft product. Currently Microsoft does NOT have an MP to monitor ADFS

  19. Ability to create group of objects constrained by another group

For dashboard authoring it would be useful to have a authoring console method of defining dynamic groups which are constrained by membership of another group, for example "All logical disks associated with an Exchange server role". I know it is possible to do this by editing the XML within a management pack http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2010/09/09/how-to-create-a-group-of-objects-that-are-contained-by-some-other-group.aspx , but this can be quite time consuming

  20. Convert VBS in core MPs to PowerShell

There is no consistency regarding the scripting language used in MP's. Some use VBS, Jscript and a few use powershell. It would be nice if at least all the core MP's "Windows OS"; SQL, AD are changed to PowerShell.
