  1. Support for SCOM Reporting feature as Highly Available / Scale out deployment

We seem to be using a Legacy design for SCOM Reporting as SCOM reporting from 2012 - 2019 does not have the option for Scale out deployment / Highly Available setup.

From the documents provided by Microsoft, SCOM does not support hosting Reporting SQL database on Always ON or SQL Clustered database engine instance.

Above was from a SQL prospective, However SCOM reporting component its self is not a Highly Available setup.

Can the product group keep this in consideration for SCOM 2016 / 2019 future updates ?

  2. SCCM Reporting issue : Not showing user names along with device name

We have one internal application which we always deploy for device collection and the installation behavior is install for system
Recently we tried to pull report but not seeing user names along with device name hence contacted Microsoft
Microsoft answer is install behavior should be install for user only will get the user name along with device name, this option will not allow SCCM to install application if the user logoff but we need application should install if user is login or log off
We have been following same method since last 3 years and we presented to Microsoft also…

  3. Monitor Schedule Reports

I miss a standard monitor for configured scheduled reports, like execute with error or not execute on configured time.

  5. Add forecasting to reports

We are migrating our environment off prem to a hosted environment and will lose the ability to access VM data. This will make SCOM our most critical monitoring platform. I'm sure many other companies are in the same position.

It would be great to have the option within performance reporting such as disk/memory to forecast usage as it will be our only source of data for capacity management. I can also see benefits for incident prevention as well.

  7. SCOM 2019 - Data Warehouse failed to deploy reports for a management pack to SQL Reporting Services Server

Please can anyone elighten me on this since I cannot find a proper solution!

The management pack in case is the new SQL agnostic version.

Data Warehouse failed to deploy reports for a management pack to SQL Reporting Services Server. Failed to deploy reporting component to the SQL Server Reporting Services server. The operation will be retried.

  8. User Auditing Reporting to show what actually changed with Management Packs overrides and Agent Installation.

Show details of what changed and allow to revert those kind of changes for better monitoring security.

  9. Allow changing SSRS permissions and do not ignore them

If a user is member of the SCOM Security Role "Operations Manager Report Operators" or any other "Report Operator"-Group it is not possible to browse the Reports-Website (https://reportserver.domain.local/Reports).
It is only possible to directly call the reports. (https://reportserver.domain.local/Reports/Audit%20Reports/AccessViolation-AccountLocked)

The error message is the genereic error: "Could not load folder contents You are not allowed to view this folder. Contact your administrator to obtain the necessary permissions."
The SSRS-logs also do not provide any other more detailed explanation.

I verified that the group-ID of the security role has "Browser"-Rights on the Root-SSRS folder. …

  10. Include 'Downtime Periods' into the 'Availability' Reports for Multiple Objects

    Scenario:
A request to produce a downtime report for multiple objects (say multiple web app transaction monitoring) will only yield the overall downtime. Apparently, there is no way to include the downtime periods into the parent report as we have click on 'Downtime Periods' and that would subsequently produce a new report.

Would be better to have one single immediate view that will show the overall downtime as well as specific downtime periods right below each object so that the whole report can be exported into one single PDF (instead of exporting multiple reports for different objects by clicking on…

  11. Use advanced features in SSRS reporting. Push all PGs to develop better reporting in their MPs. Move reporting to 21st century

Use advanced reporting capabilities in SSRS to generate rich graphical and meaningful reports

  12. Bring the Operational Insights reporting capabilities to on-prem SCOM

The reporting capabilties in the Operational Insights / OMS looks awesome!
Unfortulately, lots of SCOM setups cannot for several regulatory reasons not be connected to the Operational Insights / OMS.
Please bring the equivalent experience to the on-prem SCOM solutions as well.

  13. Reporting

I sometimes have to setup multiple scheduled versions of the same report. It would be a huge timesaver if reports could be quickly copied and modified. Also the ability to be able to allow multiple users to administer a centralized report schedule.

  14. What's Being Monitored?

Provide an easy report or way for users to view the effective rules associated to an application and or server (i.e.: What's being monitored).

It's currently convoluted, somewhat cumbersome and only a SCOM admin can decipher the output.

  15. Easy way to report monitors/rules and override on a per server or group basis

We are constantly being asked for what is being monitored on our servers (s). This is not an easy question to ask. A report for a server/group showing all monitored/rules and overrides across all management packs would be extremely usefull

  16. Bug: Upgrading Reporting Services from 2016 to 1801 Fails to detect upgrade

When upgrading Reporting Service on SSRS server that is not a management server from SCOM 2016 to SCOM 1801 the installation media does not detect that the management server has been upgraded. Therefore you cannot upgrade the Reporting Services

    SQL 2014 Standard instance

  17. Normalize Data in the SCOM DW so that reports like the "Top N" report can be run against all OSes in one report.

There are 3 data values, for example, for CPU performance depending on if it's Win 2008, R2 or Win 2012 (R2). If the SCOM DW could normalize this data I would only have to build one report for CPU or Processor performance, not 3.

  18. Add a health trend dashboard, which can be scoped to objects or groups

Today, the Management Group Health Trend dashboard is really great to see the trend of alerts in the environment. However it would be useful to duplicate this dashboard but constrain it to just the members of a Distributed App or Group. I spent a lot of time today trying to fabricatre this, to no avail.

  19. Server name pops up when you hover over a line in a graph.

Currently when you hover over a line in a performance graph only the perfmon value and date pop up. The only way to determine what system that line applies to is the match colors.

This is makes it very difficult to determine the system when you have a large amount of systems and several colors with a similar shade....you wind up scrolling through the list of systems trying to match up the color.

It would be far simpler to just have the system name pop up when you hover your cursor over the line.

  20. Make reports in SCOM more appealing

Most of the times when you export the reports in SCOM to PDF it does not look great. I prefer the Veeam reports overt the SCOM reports since they look much better. Some improvements to make the reports better would be nice.
