  1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 support (RHEL 8)

Any idea when is RHEL 8 going to be supported? My customers are already deploying servers in RHEL8 and we cannot provide monitoring for them.

  2. Ability to turn off alerts not able to be closed in SCOM 2019

We need to be able to disable the feature preventing alerts from being closed if the monitor is in an unhealthy state.

As it currently stands integration with a Service desk such as Netcool is problematic as if the alert is closed in the service desk when the writeback happens to SCOM the chain breaks as the alert cannot always be closed in SCOM.

    Feature below:

If you close an alert generated by a monitor (from the Operations Console “Active alerts” view) which is in a unhealthy state then the following message will be displayed and the alert will not…

  3. Fix SSRS 2017 Integration

When rolling out SSRS 2017, once you add the SCOM Report Server role to it, the Reports page only gives a 500 error. Reports work in the console, but can no longer get to the web interface.

  4. SCOM 2019 support for 2008 R2 Clients

We need support in SCOM 2019 for agents that are running Server 2008 R2. Almost a quarter of our servers are still 2008 R2, and this is a huge hang up for us in moving up. Since these are more legacy systems, most are also unable to be updated.

  5. Ability to Monitor Hyper-V 2019 with SCOM 2019

Client got new Hyper-V 2019 & we need to do Host level, Cluster level and storage level monitoring in SCOM. Searched the internet and also raised case with MS, got to know the MP is still not released. Request MS to build\release the MP ASAP.

  6. Invalid ‘Data Access Service SPN Not Registered’ entries in the ‘Operations Manager’ event log

As per Kevin Holman’s article entitled ‘OpsMgr 2012: What should the SPN’s look like?’ (i.e. https://kevinholman.com/2011/08/08/opsmgr-2012-what-should-the-spns-look-like/), please correct the following erroneous event log entries that are logged when the SDK service is restarted (and configured with an AD account):

    Event Log: Operations Manager
    Event ID: 26371
    Event Source: OpsMgr SDK Service
    Event Level: Warning
    Event Description:

The System Center Data Access service failed to register an SPN. A domain admin needs to add MSOMSdkSvc/MS1 and MSOMSdkSvc/MS1.contoso.com to the servicePrincipalName of CN=MS1,CN=Computers,DC=contoso,DC=com

The events are still being logged, even in SCOM 2019.

    Thank you,

  8. Bug in Microsoft System Center Management Pack for AD CS 2016 Management Pack

There is a bug in this Management Pack which causes it to fail when TLS 1.2 is enforced. The error is:

Topology10.0Discovery.vbs : Unable to connect to the database with the specified configuration string. Please make sure that your connection string is valid and that your credentials are authorized to access the database. Cause: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (SECCreateCredentials()).]SSL Security error.

The bug in the discovery is in Topology10.0Discovery.vbs in this line of code:

    GetOpsMgrDBConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=" & sDBServerName & ";Initial Catalog=" & sDBName & ";Integrated Security=SSPI;"

Provider=SQLOLEDB fails when TLS 1.2 is enforced. Per this article, it should be updated:

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/kevinjustin/2017/11/08/sql-native-client-for-tls1-2/

  10. Node properties should reflect currently effective data

Current design for node location property is to show the last known value. For example a device is added and has a location this location is shown. If the location field is made empty the property in SCOM is not updated. This behavior is a deviation from the normal behavior for object properties as they do reflect the current effecitve data. Please remove this deviation and always show the current effective value, if we want to know a historical value we do have a data warehouse and reporting capabilities.

  11. Prevent objects already in manual maintenance mode, entering automatic maintenance mode

If you, for instance, put several Windows Computers in maintenance via the scheduler and one of them was already put in maintenance manually, that one will get out of maintenance when the scheduler ends.
Same deal for hosted objects that were put in maintenance manually.

  12. Provide examples (sample code) for SCOM 1801+ REST API

    Hi,

since 1801 SCOM offers a REST API. That is great and I'd like to leverage it for some cross platform scenarios.

Unfortunately the examples (currently just JavaScript and related to alerts) don't help me.

Please add examples (sample code) in PowerShell , C# or provide Swagger compatibility.

    Many thanks

    Ruben

  13. Java EE MP (v10.19.1011.0): Incorrect supported app server versions in JEEAppServerLibrary.ps1

I was trying to manually add a WebLogic 12c application for monitoring in SCOM 2019 and was encountering the following error:

    .\NewJEEAppServer.ps1 -ManagementServer MGMTSVR1 -Target https://app.site.domain.com:443 -JEEAppServerType WebLogic
WebClient call failed to server: https://app.site.domain.com:443
Unable to determine the application server type and version : https://app.site.domain.com:443

After trying the old management pack (v7.5.1038.0), this error did not appear and the application appeared to be successfully added, however no further discoveries take place. I assumed this was down to different versions of BeanSpy and the .ps1 scripts themselves, so reverted this and looked further into the new management pack scripts.

    It appears…

  14. Version Agnostic MP (7.0.15.0) Clustered Instance Discovery Issues

The version agnostic management pack (v7.0.15.0) appears to have issues discovering clustered SQL Server instances. I deployed it alongside a fresh SCOM 2019 build without any of the old SQL Server management packs imported, and only some instances/databases are being discovered – it’s a very strange mix of results. We have a SQL 2014 instance that gets discovered fully (including databases), a SQL 2016 instance which is discovered with its databases but are not monitored, and SQL 2016/2017 instances that aren’t discovered at all.

I then imported the SQL 2016 management pack (v7.0.15.0) and it discovered all the clustered instances/databases…

Show details of what changed and allow to revert those kind of changes for better monitoring security.

  16. Add overridable perfomance collection optimization for nix management packs

We have 1200 win agents and 250 unix agent in SCOM

So, nix agents produces more perf data than all windows agents

Reason: there are no optimization for performance counters at all

Yes, you can rewrite and add module , but its almost impossible due CMDB sync in big companies

It will be great to add overridable percentage perf. optimization

(Same situation in sql mp, dfs mp...everywhere)

  17. De-Activate and Activate a Management Pack

It would be handy to De-Activate a MP instead of deleting it. Or set a MP in maintenance.

  18. SCOM SQL 2017+ DB Log Free Space in Megabyte

In the SQL 2017+ Management Pack is a Monitor to monitor the free DB log space in percent. We would like to monitor the free DB log space additionally in MB. We need this because we have very much DBs, and they are from very small to very big. Its to much effort to set for every DB another percent treshold. And if we set a threshold 10%, this is good for small DBs, but if we have a big DB, there is no problem when free space is for example 10% but still 100GB. So we wanna set a…

  19. SCOM Installer Failure with RC4 Protocol Disabled

SCOM 1801/1807 installer and discovery wizard fails to work until I had to enable RC4 on the DC, SCOM management server, and the SCOM database server. Please remove the RC4 dependency. I had to find this article to figure out that RC4 was my issue. https://nathangau.wordpress.com/2018/06/22/scom-installer-failure-with-rc4-protocol-disabled/

  20. implement ssh server on scom and support python scripts

Due to the need for hybrid environments with opensource systems and the scom's apliances to stay competitive with, market chains should enable native support for secure ssh communication but without fully depending on the requested agent, thereby opening up numerous possibilities for direct execution of Hi, I have a ssh command. I have a ssh command. I have a ssh command that interprets bash commands via ssh but it does not have native support. It is mandatory to install an ssh service on the windows server, there is also a need to run python scripts, such as zabbix and splunk…
